seriously, now you're just being stupid...the bill is not finalized, it needs "fixes" and they want to pass an additional second bill with fixes...to deny this is dishonest....to claim the final bill has 60 votes, is dishonest.

there are no steps required, i have provided links, bolded the pertinent parts, if you want to play this dishonest game about the bill in december, have at it, fact is, the final bill does not have 60 votes, obama has gone back on his word by now stating he will use a 50+1 vote to get the final bill passed.

The bolded portion above is just plain wrong. Once it passes the House, with or without companion legislation, the bill that passed the Senate with 60 votes will be law provided Obama signs it. That's where you seem to be confused.

A number of House Democrats are nervous that the more conservative Senate will fail to follow through on promised changes to the bill once it becomes law. Democratic aides have admitted that it would be easier to vote on the original Senate bill if it were immediately followed by a vote on the package of changes in reconciliation.

Once the House passes the Senate bill, with or without a companion reconciliation bill, it becomes law with appropriate presidential action. The whole purpose of the separate reconciliation bill is to avoid a requirement of Senate action to pass the underlying healthcare reform law, which cannot be done through the reconciliation process.

So you can bitch and moan that the amendments to the Senate bill will be passed with 50+ something less than 10 votes, but the underlying legislation will have passed the Senate with 60 votes.

White House officials tell ABC News that in his remarks tomorrow President Obama will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed but will suggest that if it is necessary, Democrats will use the controversial "reconciliation" rules requiring only 51 Senate votes to pass the "fix" to the Senate bill, as opposed to the 60 votes to stop a filibuster and proceed to a vote on a bill.

The plan to pass the bill includes having the House of Representatives pass the Democratic Senate health care reform legislation as well as a second bill containing various “fixes.”

The president will call for an up or down vote on health care reform, as has happened in the past, and though he won't use the word "reconciliation," he'll make it clear that if they're not given an up or down vote, Democrats will use the reconciliation rules as Republicans have done in the past.

If a bill passes with 60 votes in the Senate it passes with 60 votes in the Senate. That an amendment to that bill might pass with less than 60 votes in the Senate cannot and does not undo the fact that the bill itself passed with 60 votes in the Senate.

i'm not sure this is correct, but i heard the dems are going to try and get the public option in with the "fixes"....if that is true, then these fixes aren't simply budget concerns as some would have us believe....
