Obama: gay partners should have hospital access

This is funny now but at the time...

Years ago I was driving in an unfamiliar area and not moving fast enough on an entrance ramp, so this pickup truck which was behind me passed on the right, and all four occupants gave me the finger--- mom, dad and two kids, ages approx. six and seven. You can just imagine how those kids grew up.

trying to buy crack or a prostitute :D

How was the rest of your visit to Boston?

Driving fast enough? :pke:

The same applies to gay couples that live together for years and then one dies, absent a will, the other gay partner loses property that had then been spouses a lack of will would not have deprived them. The inequity is unforgivible, and people that support that inequity are not kind people.
you know, it's actually easier to write a will than to get a marriage certificate, even if you're straight....surprising then we need to go through all this shit just to make sure a gay person can leave his property to his partner if he wants to..........

irrelevent as to marriage and you know it

For anyone who has claimed that gay couples can get the proper paperwork and be able to do all the things straights do, in so far as medical care is concerned, please read this article:

http://www.bilerico.com/2010/04/sonoma_county_ca_separates_elderly_gay_couple_and.php

Don't dismiss it and spout more dogma. Read the article.

That's exactly why I got married. To a woman, just to be clear.

Also, certain jurisdictions do not recognize "common law" relationships and my wife and I occasionally travel. Should medical decisions have to be made I do not want someone having to obtain a copy of my will before they have the authority to speak for me. All countries recognize the right of the legal spouse.

I personally experienced that when I had a car accident. My brother was considered next of kin and he didn't like my partner.

Also, when there is a death the "common law" partner is not always considered, even in man/woman cases, and unless every item in the house is listed in a will family members can loot the home.

Actually I've driven in Boston and it wasn't horrible. The worst, IMO, is Washington DC and the surrounding area. I-95, yikes. To drive the speed limit is to court death.

We Pittsburghers are spoiled because we've been rated the most courteous drivers in the country. :cof1:

"The most courteous city is Pittsburgh, followed closely by Portland,
Ore., Seattle, Minneapolis and Cleveland. New trends and road rage triggers
for 2008: drivers talking on cell phones, eating, drinking, texting and
e-mailing."

Pittsburgh, I imagine, is more Midwest attitude than Eastern. Boston is mild now with the new expressways than it used to be. Back in the 70's I used to call by car "UAV-1", for urban assault vehicle.
