Obama losing some Democrats. 42% AR

TuTu Monroe

A Realist
September 2nd, 2009 President Barack Obama’s job approval rating is down to 42%, with a decline in approval from Democrats the leading factor.

The latest Zogby Interactive poll of 4,518 likely voters conducted from August 28-31 found 48% disapprove and 42% approve of the job Obama is doing. The poll found 75% of Democrats approve of Obama’s performance, a drop of 13 points among Democrats from an interactive poll done July 21-24 of this year.
Over that same six-week period, Obama’s job approval has gone as follows with each of these demographic groups that were his strongest supporters in the election:

Democrats: From 88% to 75%, -13 points
Liberals: From 95% to 86%, – 9 points
18-29-year-olds: From 59% to 41%, -18 points
African-Americans: From 83% to 74%, -9 points.
Is Obama failing to deliver on his promise of change that some Democrats expected? Or, did they misinterpret Obama, who is actually much more of a moderate than they had anticipated? Are Democrats at risk of losing the enthusiasm of their base voters in the 2010 mid-term elections? Would passage of a healthcare reform bill that includes a public option win back the support of dissident Democrats?

The sitting presidents approval is dropping during a horrible recession. No suprise there.
The dissatisfied dems still won't vote for a republican though.

Nope don't even like to read them, lowclass that they are.
You are pushing for an ignore option, Twerp.

This all proves nothing, other than that all presidents have a honeymoon, and it ends during their first year in office.

President Obama's approval numbers started much higher than Bush's so they had further to fall.

I noticed you forgot to mention that.

A poll is obviously no indication of how our president will be seen by historians.

me thinks a public option would cure this

I dare you! :)

Democrats: From 88% to 75%, -13 points
Liberals: From 95% to 86%, – 9 points
18-29-year-olds: From 59% to 41%, -18 points
African-Americans: From 83% to 74%, -9 points.

Losing his base, especially young folks who now realize that they've been duped.

That's good spin. It's certainly true that his numbers were unrealistically high. The media hype surrounding him lead to that. It's a symptom of media bias. Now you see people are growing tired of being taken for fools. Hard working, well meaning democrats are wising up and realizing Obama is just another puppet on the same old strings.

Mandate health insurance purchases from those evil mongers, the insurance company?

this is most likely what has turned many people away from supporting him.

It's not only the Democrats, the Independents are also turning away from him.

As I said before it is not suprising for a pressidents numbers to drop during a very hard recession. Bush's numbers dropped badly while the economy was still pretty strong.
