Obama refuses help of Dutch skimmers

i don't think obama alone is totally responsible for it...it certaintly looks like it was already agreed upon....folks in gulf region asked for it weeks ago and reid claims he wanted the money a week ago...

you guys are acting like its all obama's doing, i don't believe it is, that of course doesn't mean i believe he had nothing to do with it...

give you props for being more honest than onceler :good4u:

It only took a week to get 20 Billion.... Dammmm thats good. It took me three years to get a 14 million dollar verdict and it was for a woman who spent the first year in the hospital.

it is beyond implied for me that you admitted it...you can't provide any such words, all you have is weak ass....well i think you really meant this....tough shit bucko...you have impliedly admitted you lied....

:)

LOL

Okay - another hairsplitting victory for the mighty Yurtsie. You know what you were saying, and I know what you were saying, but we'll agree to agree that it wasn't really what you were saying.

Congrats, Yurtsie! Your intellectual honesty meter just...well, actually, it didn't move at all.

I don't think Obama was superman on this.

I think BP caved as a result of a number of factors: probably public relations, long term damage to their reputation and stock value, Obama leaning on them, an unprecedented and high-profile environmental catastrophe, and an outraged american public.

That said, I don't think Shrub, Cheney, John McCain, Sarah Palin, or any republican politician would have held BPs feet to the fire for 20 billion in bling. That ain't the way the GOP operates, and 100 years of political history is on my side. So, in this one case, it's lucky we didn't have a conservative republican advocating for the american people.

well I for one am prepared to give Obama major kudos......he met with the BP people for approximately 20 minutes.....that's approximately $1billion per minute, without discounting for the time it took for introductions.......

I am sure the detales were ironed out prior to the meeting, you are correct if thats what you are claiming.

I suspect that was a condition of Obama meeting with these jokers.

Who cares about the formal face to face, its what happened behind the sceens that matters.

Do you really belive that Obama talked BP out of 5 BILLION in a single face to face meeting? If he could do that, I doubt he would be president, he would be King of the world or something.

lol....no, actually I don't believe Obama had anything at all to do with the creation of a $20 billion escrow account......

what's your point?....Obama was there for 20 minutes, correct?

What, do you work at Taco Bell?

Executives don't do negotiations. They give their staff instructions and order them to iron out the details. The executive only parachutes in to get face time and extract the verbal or written committment.

I think it was a smart move for Obama to threaten to take away BP's leases, take away their North Slope Alaska operator's license, and to cancel all their government contracts. That was hardball. I don't think Obama was completely and individually responsible for this crap, but I laugh at the mere thought that Dick Cheney or John McCain would have threatened a multinational corporation to within an inch of it's life (figuratively speaking), and extracted 20 billion from them.

All the Republicans were screaming about how Obama had not yet met with BP, he was acting illresponsable by talking about taking away the leases and the ban on drilling..

It was all a negotiation ploy, and they were not helping!

You're Wrong!
