China warned Trump in December about a virus coming our way. Trump was denying it was dangerous because he thinks everything works out for him because he is special. He even fought a disembarking of the sick people from a ship because the increased numbers would make him look bad. Whether they died or not did not matter. It was about how it made him look.
Trump was given plenty of warning but did nothing unless you count golf and rallies as fighting a pandemic. Trump said do not worry, it will simply go away. The warm weather will kill it. Does that sound like a guy who took it seriously?
There is one person responsible for the illnesses and deaths. That is Trump. We have far more cases and deaths than any other country. That is what Trump accomplished. When he decided to slough it iff, it became the Trump virus. China was not responsible after Trump fucked off. If he did his job we would have a lot fewer deaths and cases.

In Wolverine's alternate reality, he and Trump were both tricked and conned by China and the WHO into thinking COVID was a hoax and not taking it seriously.
