When we went to a VAT system some years back, it replaced existing taxes such as purchase tax.

Paddy Behan, a partner at Vantis accountancy firm and considered to be of the country's leading VAT specialists, said: "It is hugely efficient tax, it's a great tax from a revenue raising exercise. It has swept the world. More than 130 countries have now adopted it from Belgium to Burkina Faso. One of the few holding out is America, but academics are talking about Obama introducing it over there."

that is not what is being discussed....they are not talking about reducing other taxes, such that this new tax will not be an increase

Sorry but I think it false prophet worshiping on the under 250,000. Obama has already taken a huge dump on us under 250,000 middle class tax layers with hid wealth distributing monstocity clad in healthcare reform.

Correct - that is why I said "ad hom" singular, instead of ad homs. "Clown"celer is clearly an ad hom as Dunceler is - they contain derogatory terms. It would be like me calling you Idiyurt, instead of the nickname (not ad hom) Yurtle.
