OBAMAGATE: The Cover-up Begins

You should be more judicious in filtering and selecting information sources. The term "RINO" predates Trump. It really does mean "Republican in name only."
I simply pointed out that Trump and his crowd are now using it to refer to Republicans that criticize Trump.
I simply pointed out that you are mistaken.
It is you who are mistaken here:
Opinion | The Trump RINO Test Is Ridiculous | Politico.com

I've heard that the difference between nationalism and patriotism is that patriots love their country, while nationalists think their country is the best. From there, it can be a slippery slope to saying that all other countries are worse and from there, to wars and things of that nature.
What you just wrote is silly.
No, it's something that's been brought up on various websites, including dictionary.com. From their page on the 2 terms:
What I wrote stands. The left is attempting to hijack the word "nationalism" as a perjorative/slur for patriotism. They have to. They are otherwise revealing themselves as being petty HATERS of the US and of anyone who is trying to make America great again. Those same people also hurl "make America great again" as a slur, and create other slurs like "MAGAt" and "MAGAtard",

I agree that terms like "MAGAt" and "MAGAtard" are slurs and don't belong in a productive discussion. As you may know, I'm also a fan of RFK Jr., Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services, as well as Trump's Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. This doesn't mean I always agree with them, but they have done things -recently- that I approve of, such as reducing the amount of recommended childhood vaccines in RFK Jr.'s case and of exposing Russiagate for what it is in the case of Tulsi Gabbard. That being said, this doesn't take away from the fact that nationalism can and has been used in a dark way, as exemplified by parties such as the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazis for short.

From their page on the 2 terms:

In most contexts today, nationalism is “the policy or doctrine of asserting the interests of one’s own nation viewed as separate from the interests of other nations or the common interests of all nations.”
This is true for all countries. It's called economics.
No, economics is something else. From Wikipedia's introduction to the term:
**
Economics (/ˌɛkəˈnɒmɪks, ˌiːkə-/) is a behavioral science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.

I agree that terms like "MAGAt" and "MAGAtard" are slurs and don't belong in a productive discussion.
Implicit in that is the "nationalism" slur for patriotism having no place in productive discussion.

As you may know, I'm also a fan of RFK Jr., Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services, as well as Trump's Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.
Why aren't you also a fan of Trump? All three were lifelong Democrats until the DNC erased their opportunities and their voices, effectively forcing them to jump ship, along with millions of Americans crossing all demographics. All this started with the DNC oligarchy choosing their Presidential candidates 12 years in advance, precluding Trump from running for President as a Democrat. For the 2016 election, the DNC had already promised the nomination to Hillary, already the most HATED woman in America and the worst possible candidate. Trump and Sanders were kicked to the curb without so much as a consolation. If Trump had been allowed to run as a Democrat, he would have still been elected, but as a Democrat. Now, Trump is transforming the RNC and hammering nails into the DNC's coffin.

This doesn't mean I always agree with them,
I too have been a long-time Tulsi fan.

but they have done things -recently- that I approve of, such as reducing the amount of recommended childhood vaccines in RFK Jr.'s case and of exposing Russiagate for what it is in the case of Tulsi Gabbard.
Russiagate was Russiagate all the way back when it was Russiagate. This latest confirmation is not news by any stretch.

That being said, this doesn't take away from the fact that nationalism can and has been used in a dark way,
Nope. Patriotism is HATED by the left because the left HATES the US, and wants to tear it apart, flood it with illegals, and give it away to foreign powers. You are simply regurgitating the leftist narrative of making patriotism for the US into a slur.

You have not answered my question: How is my American patriotism "dark" and "extreme" ... and somehow a bad thing? Assume that I believe the US is the best country on the planet and that America should look out for its interests. I await your answer.

as exemplified by parties such as the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazis for short.
Nazis owned dogs. Your position that dog ownership exemplifies negative/dark predilictions is stupid.

Did you just say that I was mistaken because of ... ummm ... Politico?

I don't always agree with the publication, but in this case, I think their article makes a good case. It was published in 2023. I'll just quote the introduction to it below:
**
You might have heard that Ron DeSantis is a RINO.

Of course, the former congressman and Florida governor hasn’t departed from Republican orthodoxy in any significant way during his career (and, in fact, now he’s helping to define it); he’s loyally supported the party’s candidates across the spectrum, and, as his fame and power have grown, campaigned for them; and he’s been a determined party-builder in Florida.

In any rational world, the pejorative “Republican In Name Only” shouldn’t show up within hailing distance of DeSantis, but former President Donald Trump is trying to make it stick.

Records aren’t kept on such things, but Trump is clearly the most promiscuous user of “RINO” in Republican Party history. He applies it to everyone from Republicans who now have a genuinely strained connection to the party, like Liz Cheney, to stand-out governors like DeSantis and Brian Kemp of Georgia.

Nope. It is error-ridden.

You might have heard that Ron DeSantis is a RINO.
You might want to reflect on the meaning of the term RINO instead of treating it as an empty slur.

So, let's dial back your TDS pivot aimed at derailing the thread by stealthily shifting the topic to bashing Trump ... and return to the definition that a RINO is a leftist disguised as a Republican ... but is only a Republican in name only. Donald Trump's name does not appear anywhere in the definition, and leftists are only on the left.

Let me know if you have any questions.

As i've said quite a few times now, I'm no Trumper, and I welcome further investigation into the Epstein Files. That doesn't mean that there hasn't been compelling evidence for -years- that Russiagate was a farce. Well known journalist Aaron Mate has been writing articles about it for years, but he's certainly not the only one. His most recent one is here:
You do a good impression of a Trump Chump. For clarification: www.politifact.com/factchecks/2025/jul/22/donald-trump/russia-investigation-coup-Obama-Russia-Tulsi-Gabba/

Trump isn't a Republican, he's a Ross Perot Democrat. He just took advantage of the GOP to win their base of ex-Democrat working class people, Evangelicals, small business people, populists, and patriots, all of whom were in turn becoming disaffected from the RNC's Wall Street and globalist ass kissing shills. Why start a separate Party when your natural base is already massed in an existing Party?

Makes sense.

People forget that political parties are just clubs, and individual members may or may not adhere to the complete party platform or the ideology of the majority of the party. That is more so in the GOP than it is with the democrats at this time..
