Odd how opinions about bombing the "bad guys" seem to vary isn't it?

They don't have a shred of self respect.. Especially the veterans here speaking out against the President and their military... What honorable veteran would even consider disrespecting the President and the troops Fighting so bravely for our country? Just because they're unwell doesn't give them an excuse to do so....
Questioning the President’s competency is not disrespecting the troops, if it is anything, it is standing up for the troops caught up in Trump’s ineptitudeness

Gee,...I wonder if Libya posed anywhere near the threat Iran did? :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:. Did Obama get congressional approval 1st? Nope,....sure didn't. I wonder if we can find any old JPP posts in the archives of LWers calling his actions unconstitutional and illegal? Especially LAUGHABLE when he said it would last DAYS instead of the seven MONTHS it did.

Conservative Criticism of Obama on Libya Intervention

Background of the Libya Crisis

In February 2011, protests against Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi began as part of the Arab Spring. The situation escalated into violence, prompting international calls for intervention. The U.S. and its allies sought to protect civilians and support rebel forces against Gaddafi's regime.

Key Points of Conservative Criticism

  • Delayed Response: Critics argue that President Obama was slow to respond to the crisis, which allowed Gaddafi's forces to gain ground against the rebels.
  • Political Motivations: Some conservatives suggested that the administration's hesitance was politically motivated, aiming to avoid controversy during an election year.
  • Lack of Planning: Obama later acknowledged that failing to plan for Libya's post-Gaddafi governance was a significant mistake, which contributed to ongoing instability in the region.

Consequences of the Intervention

  • Regime Change: The military intervention led to the overthrow of Gaddafi, but the aftermath was chaotic, with Libya facing political fragmentation and the rise of extremist groups.
  • Ongoing Instability: The lack of a clear strategy for the "day after" Gaddafi's fall resulted in a power vacuum, leading to continued violence and unrest in Libya.
