Correct, Opie. That does appear to be sixth grade logic.

Adults see that all crimes should be investigated, be it assholes throwing rocks at police in Portland or assholes attacking police and overrunning the Capitol of the United States of America.

Sixth graders may not understand the subtle differences between State and Federal jurisdictions or the why Washington, District of Columbia is different than any other city.

FWIW, I’m against the idiocy of making DC a state; cut off the residential areas and give them back to Maryland. That said, the Republicans stonewalling a 1/6 investigation may backfire on them by giving more impetus to statehood. After all, if Congress won’t protect Congress and the occupants, then who will? A state governor would.

In a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’ democrats may inadvertently reveal whatever it is they’re trying to keep secret about the shooters identity in THE ONLY HOMICIDE that occurred on 1/6.

That is, if Chuckie Boy is serious about bringing another vote to the floor. Not sure how that would change anything but yeah.
