Oh Nancy, you tease.

Is there a time frame required for when she must transmit the articles ?

It’s not the back then that matters lol.

It’s the from now on. From now on, the House can impeach a president with a simple straight partisan majority. It doesn’t matter if the articles aren’t worth anything since there will be a motivation by the *democrat* president to be acquitted.

Then use the articles to force concessions from the Senate to get a trial to their liking.

Fortunately, I doubt that it will work this time. Pelosi is hiding.

Well the back then does matter because it sets precedent for the future. But I understand your point.

WASHINGTON*– Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the GOP-led Senate would move forward on establishing rules for*President Donald Trump's*impeachment trial*without Democrats.*

“We have the votes, once the impeachment trial has begun, to pass a resolution essentially, very same, similar” to the one establishing rules passed for the first phase of President Bill Clinton's impeachment trial, McConnell said.

But the announcement wasn't enough to move House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has refrained from sending articles of impeachment to the Senate, leaving the trial in a state of limbo. Pelosi, in a letter to Democratic colleagues Tuesday evening,*indicated that*she would continue to hold articles, saying that she wanted to see a Senate resolution that will outline the procedures for the trial.

"It is important that [McConnell] immediately publish this resolution, so that, as I have said before, we can see the arena in which we will be participating, appoint managers and transmit the articles to the Senate.*

McConnell said the resolution would establish "phase one" of the trial, which involves "arguments from the prosecution, arguments from the defense*and a period of written questions."*A decision on witnesses would be made during the trial, rather than before it began, he said.*

Zarif:*US denies visa to Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif before UN Security Council meeting

For weeks, McConnell, R-Ky.,*and Senate Minority Leader*Charles*Schumer, D-N.Y., attempted to come to an agreement on how the*trial should operate.*McConnell pointed to precedent, arguing the trial should operate like Clinton's in 1999.*

Schumer argued the*presentation*of witnesses and documents should be agreed to beforehand, saying the Trump administration blocked*information and testimony important to impeachment. The information, he said, would shed more light on the allegations at the heart of impeachment: that*the president asked*Ukraine for investigations that would have helped him politically while delaying*military aid to the country and a White House meeting.

In Clinton's*impeachment trial, witnesses and other sticky issues were decided in the middle of the trial. Senators decided to establish basic rules and procedures for the trial, which passed 100-0, and to take up more contentious issues later.*

John Bolton:*Bolton says he will testify in Trump's impeachment trial if Senate subpoenas him

More:*Feds recommend prison sentence of up to six months for ex-Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn

Schumer pointed to comments made by*McConnell*signaling that after opening arguments, the Senate could vote and move forward on other issues without additional witnesses.*

Pelosi has said she worried the Senate would not hold a fair trial and said she wanted to know the arena the House would operate*in before naming house managers, which are lawmakers who will act as prosecutors in the trial.*

McConnell said the resolution outlining*impeachment trial ruleswould be unveiled after the articles are transmitted to the Senate, leaving McConnell and Pelosi at another stalemate.*

Hello Southern Chicken,

I wonder if the speaker of the house refuse to transmit the articles of impeachment against clinton to the senate back then....huummmm I guess not. I bet the house left it up to the senate to adjudicate the way they saw fit then...what do you think?

What I see in this response is sidestepping addressing why Trump does not take the oath, take the stand and explain himself. With the majority of the nation favoring his removal it would be highly prudent if he could simple straight talk us and settle this issue. And if he cannot then he deserves to be removed.

Hello Darth,

It’s not the back then that matters lol.

It’s the from now on. From now on, the House can impeach a president with a simple straight partisan majority. It doesn’t matter if the articles aren’t worth anything since there will be a motivation by the *democrat* president to be acquitted.

The House always could have done that. The reason that never happened is because impeachment is not to be diminished in it's seriousness. It must be reserved for when there is no other choice. Such as now.

Then use the articles to force concessions from the Senate to get a trial to their liking.

Everyone but the guilty and the conned want a fair trial.

Fortunately, I doubt that it will work this time. Pelosi is hiding.

Actually, it is working beautifully. Trump tried a wag the dog diversion but everybody is still talking about impeachment.

Trump deserves a fair trial.

The American public deserves to hear Trump testify under oath like Clinton did.

Hello Darth,

That wasn’t the question.

But it would be relevant from the standpoint if Hunter was mixed up in Ukrainian corruption then Trump was justified [actually more justified, since presidents are allowed to *ask* foreign leaders for investigations].

And in Eric Carimella’s case, if there were any shenanigans going on between he and Schiff—people need to know about it.

Democrats want a fair trial, right?

You should accept it in your mind that Trump is actually capable of doing wrong.

Consider the ramifications of what it means if he really did try to rig the 2020 election by bribing a foreign official.

Because it really does look like that is what happened.

Hello Southern Chicken,

Show me in the constitution where she has that power over the Senate. link us up

She has the power of controlling the impeachment which includes delivering the articles to the Senate. It is her decision when to do that. She is making a public issue out of this so that people will contact their Senators and demand a fair trial.

What Pelosi did was political genius. If she dropped the papers after the vote , Mitch would have covered it all up quietly declaring Trump spick and span. But by holding them, we and the news have talked about it and why she did it. What Moscow has said and done has been all over the news. What suckup Lindsey said is now well known. It is not that Moscow is willing to lie in his oath. It is not just that he has no interest in doing his job with fairness and integrity but that he proudly announced it to the world .
We look to our political leaders for holding the country together by honoring their positions and doing the right thing often enough that we don't blow it all up . Moscow has shown who he is and he should be booted out of office. He has shown that the Senate leader is a corrupt cunt who does not respect the law, justice , his office or his oath.Do rightys know how big this is?

For one thing, the election wouldn’t be ‘rigged’ even if Trump forced Zelensky into opening a fake investigation on the Biden. Rigging an election is messing with vote counts and the like. If Zelensky opened an investigation on the Bidens it would only mean Biden would be handicapped with fake baggage.

Oh, wait a minute. Opening a fake investigation sounds familiar. Where have we heard that before?
