On Thursday, the Fort Bend County, Texas, Sheriff's Office highlighted two compassionate deputies who recently went above and beyond for two wayward dogs who had ventured away from home.
On Dec. 5, Patrol Deputy David Connolly came upon the dogs who were wandering in the Grand Lakes subdivision. Deputy Connolly trailed the dogs and then called for assistance from Deputy Tamica Humphrey, who happened to be in the area as well.
With the help of some tortillas, the deputies were able to lure the dogs, a German shepherd and a pit bull, into a patrol car.
The deputies first tried driving through the area and knocking, door to door, on houses to see if they could find the dogs' owner. When that failed, they decided to drive to the Pet Medical Center of Katy to see if the dogs had microchips.
Fortunately, the dogs were implanted with microchips, which had the name, address and contact information for the dogs' owner.
Shortly thereafter came a happy reunion between the dogs and their worried guardian.
