I am sure this woman did not understand what I am about to mention but:
It is true that Europe is starting to develop more cherastics of a single nation than it used to, especally with the advent of the EU. Last time I was in Europe most nations flew the flag of the EU over there own nations flag, they have a unified currency (for the most part) and you dont need a passport to travel between many of the European nations. Sure they have there own army's and strong national identities and languages but they are starting to develop a strong national government much like that of the United States.
In some ways Europe is turning into a nation of its own, with the many states.
