Yeah, but they generally don't vote against candidates. They vote for candidates they like.
The irony here is that two of those candidates got more votes than the "winner".
The GOP has failed to run a candidate with any strong support 5 out of the past 6 elections. The only Democrat to get fewer votes was Kerry. And soon after, everyone hated GW Bush so much they elected Obama.
Democrats fall in love, the GOP falls in line.
Except this election is going to be different. The Democrats are thoroughly "in hate" with Trump, and the "polite society" racists in the GOP have no interest in falling in line behind the Klansman. It's unbecoming.

Yeah, I know the system is rigged for the Republicans. But like it or not, we have to take it into consideration. If a Democrat is going to win, it has to be by a much bigger margin, and that only happens if the voters are excited. It doesn't happen if the voters just see the Democrat as the lesser evil.
It's not about the democratic candidate so much as it is about voting. Democrats VASTLY outnumber Republicans in this country. Liberalism has won the day, in the minds of the people.
But the access to the ballot box has destroyed their voices. Voter suppression by the GOP is a part of their platform. That should be the biggest political emergency right now, full stop. We need nationwide mail-in voting, and/or we need strict federal laws preventing localities from closing 95% of polling stations in black/poor neighborhoods (what's happening in Georgia and Kentucky with polling stations being closed is the kind of thing we would send in the UN Peacekeeping troops to handle in other countries).
We need federal laws ending the prohibition on felons voting. And, of course, moving forward, we need to end the drug war and the new Jim Crow, fulfilling the promise of suffrage for all that was supposedly enshrined in the 65 voting rights act.
This isn't about a few inspiring/uninspiring candidates. This is about 30-40% of the electorate being actively denied a voice.
There was a possibility that Indies would hold their collective noses and vote trump because of the econony-despite how much they loathe his disgusting behavior and low moral standards. That may not be the case with tRumps Covid debacle.
