HAMAS just did a stunningly successful operation, one that will be studied for years Ritter says, and we have just watched what a slog Mariupol and Bakhmut were with the populations mostly gone....How does Israel imagine that this can work?

Not to mention all the hostages will surely end up dead, prob tortured on the way out.

It was very successful, short term, but to what end? Only more misery and pain for the inhabitants of Gaza, and 1000 times worse for them than what they caused the Israelis.

Israel will destroy and pull out.

The goal is to provoke Israel into an over reaction that causes the Mid-East to rise up and rub Israel off the map, or as a fall back the world forces Israel to allow a New Palestine to be born. Much of the population of GAZA does not mind dying to get there.
 
Did almost everyone in GAZA know about this operation and keep the secret? If so punishing all of GAZA for what HAMAS did does not qualify as collective punishment as it is normally defined.

UN is what supports HAMAS. Trump cut it, biden restarted it.

I've know about that UNRWA funding of Palestinian terrorists since around 2014-15 or so.

They're buying "salt". It's really Ammonium Nitrate. Everything they buy is a weapon.

Meanwhile we have given many hundreds of billions directly to the Palestinians.
