Opie & Anthony

suspended and Jerry Falwell dead all on the same day. If only they had been fired, then I could call it a purrfect day.

This is what they were suspended for (below). Isn't rape funny? and especially violent rape, with some good face punching thrown in, and of course, the best part of it, the part that you really get off on, is imagining "the horror" of the victim. What fun!

On May 9, Opie and Anthony, whose full names are Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, aired a segment with a man they call Homeless Charlie. As the names of Rice, Bush and the queen came up, Charlie said in vulgar terms that he would like to have sex with each of them.

Opie and Anthony laughed as they imagined Rice's "horror" while describing a violent sexual encounter in which Rice is punched in the face.

The link. This is the AP report, and it does not use the word rape once. But what they did was they interviewed a homeless man, who fantasized on their show about RAPING, Rice, Laura Bush and the Queen. And Opie and Anthony added in to the fantasy, and also laughed hysterically over how "horrified" Rice would be by this violent rape. Perhaps their wives, daughters, sisters and mothers would enjoy such a thing and not be horrified?

It was a wonderful example of Germaine Greer's saying "women have very little idea how much men hate them"

Hey guys, what's worse than finding a worm in your apple? Being raped.

Yeah, you thought I was going to make a joke. But that's plain serious. Let's bring in GI Joe to lecture our youth about sex crimes now.

Interesting you bring that up. When I first read about it, whatever article I read didn't mention it either. I just mentioned some guy fantasizing about Rice, Bush, and the Queen. I didn't think anything of it, until i read about them getting punched and their horror that would ensue.

When it first happened, before they were suspended, my local paper did use the word rape, as they should.

I don't know what made the AP so delicate all of a sudden. Clearly, this was a violent rape fantasy, and it was especially directed at Rice who seemed to take the brunt of their sexual denegration and violence.

Why is rape funny? Why do these dudes shriek with laugher when talking about it?

I honestly can't ever recall any man in my adult life who made jokes, or laughed about rape. Who is the audience for these two a-holes? I suppose the demographic of males that are my peers, are possibly different than the male demographic for this lame radio show. I don't doubt for a second that there is a demographic of twisted males that think this crap is "funny".

I don't know what the demographic is. I could guess and say blue collar, high school dropout, white men, but that would be wrong of me. I'd like to get a good look at those figures though.

Don't bother researching it. I know who the demographic audience is. Remember spiderMBA, and toby?

Demographic (average) = white, conservative, republican-leaning, lower to middle income, blue collar or service industry-related profession.

Right. Because you wouldn't want to think that most "Heavy-Metal Rednecks" aren't conservatives.... That maybe the Union-Member, middle of the road, Democratic voter because of Union ties, type might not listen to the same thing? Give me a break.

I am awash with Ds, that listened to that idiotic program on their satellite radio (the only kind of radio you can actually get without static in our building)... That one and those who love Stern.

I don't know any men of whatever political bend, who listen to either of those shows, so I don't know. Or at least, I don't know any men who will admit to listening. I have to guess that at the very least, they are under-educated.

This ^^^^

I used to listen to their show when they were on terrestrial radio. Obviously they never did anything like this but their show has always been pretty sick and misogynistic. I don't think listeners necessarily agree with them but listen to it more as a freak show.

Its the same thing with Stern where he brings on that klansmen guy. Obviously we are not meant to identify with him but to laugh at the sheer depravity of human nature. It's kind of like a freak show event or something. O&A is kind of the same way. Sometimes its better to laugh than to cry.

O&A isn't really a show about real ideas anyway. It's a show just to be offensive for its own sake. It's the whole shock jock thing Stern created.

I remember on O&A they had this contest to make the most offensive song possible. It was pretty bad although I could imagine worse too.
