OUCH! Here Comes The Next Pandemic Wave For Spring 2021 In The USA

post michigan now. bruddah.

What about Michigan?

It's increasing because the restrictions were eased in February and March you dipshit:

To whatever extents it’s true, that can easily be explained by the fact roll outs of that scale improve over time.

Got anything else?

Do you honestly think that's some sort of valid retort? "Oh, it would have gone like this anyway?"

Incorrect. Trump was floundering. He was already passing the buck, as he does on everything - pointing fingers, crediting himself, blaming others.

Biden came in and passed 5 EO's in his FIRST DAY that ramped up distribution AND administration. Again - the results speak for themselves.

Hello Darth,

Get with me when Biden claims responsibility for the border. Hell, I’ll settle for allowing reporters in to see it.

The fact is, when Trump made his prediction he was mocked for it by the left. Several prominent democrats said they wouldn’t take ‘the Trump vaccine.

Irony right back at ya.

President Biden has rather obviously taken responsibility for the border along with all the other duties and responsibilities of being president. Ordinarily this would be something everyone would assume a president should and would do. The nation is very glad to have this once again since it has been missing for the last 4 years.

The prediction of a large number of asylum seekers attempting entrance at our southern border was an easy one. The condition already existed. That has been established. All we are doing is talking about the relative numbers of said asylum seekers.

I assume you’re going by the Biden administration/media ‘facts’ lol.

Vaccine distribution was up and running when Biden was installed. Fact. There was the usual car carping from some democrat governors; and yes, some glitches that are expected in a rollout of that scale. That *there even was a vaccine rollout in 2020* would have gotten any democrat president inducted into the presidential hall of fame.

But, Trump.

The WV Republican governor didn’t seem to have a problem with it as WV led the nation early on in vaccines.

You can shine it up all you like but at the end of the day Biden took over on Covid when the worst of the battle was over and the best thing he could do is ‘not blow it’. And as mentioned, it was entirely predictable that Biden would be trumpeted by the News Fakers as some sort of hero that saved the day.

But anyone that’s been paying attention knows better.

These "facts" look the same as the whole "protestors hugging & kissing cops" on 1/6.

Again: Trump was floundering. At the pace we were going when he left office, estimates were that we'd have herd immunity in 7-8 years.

Had Trump remained President, I have very little doubt that nothing would have changed much from that estimate. Biden prioritized it - right away - and within a week we were averaging over a million vaccinations a day.

Again - facts. This is now the history.

Trump won't be remembered well when it comes to COVID. It doesn't really matter what's said here. His record is pretty clear on it.

Why is it ‘his record’ lol? Fauci, Birx and the governors were chopped liver lol?

Speaking of governors, this is instructional:

“West Virginia has administered the second most vaccines per capita, with the state's governor calling it a "diamond in the rough".

It was the only state to opt out of a federal government programme through which large pharmacy chains vaccinated staff and residents in care homes (the first priority group) - and instead relied on local pharmacies, often with established links to care homes.

Mr Trump focused attention on what he saw as slow delivery by individual states, rather than issues at the federal level.”
_______

See that? Jim Justice took over vaccine distribution from the federal government and WV out did just about every other state. The federal government can be mind-numbingly inefficient under any president. Had every governor done the same thing it would be a totally different story. In fact, we’d be way ahead of the current total but too many governors wait around for the federal government to wipe their bottoms.

Also note that the average was around 900k shots/day under Trump and Biden nudged it over a million. Not exactly day and night difference. The point is *you expect* vaccination rates would improve over time since distribution took off, literally from scratch.

Finally, this is a teaching moment in terms of media narratives: at best, they can be misleading since they are often constructed of cherry picked facts. At worst, well.

Who cares about WV? We need a national program. Trump tried to pawn it all off to the states - Biden saw the need for centralized leadership. We'd never achieve herd immunity w/ a few scattered states.

This is all Biden.

As for Trump's "record", here it is: consistently downplaying the virus (which he admits on tape). Constantly sowing disinformation & sending mixed signals on basic measures like masks and distancing, and taking a position one day to support shutdowns and then the next day tweeting "liberate Michigan!" Hyping unproven and untested treatments, and hosting a series of superspreader events. Oh, and creating unprecedented anti-Asian discrimination with his rhetoric.

It's really as bad as a record could possibly be. COVID was Trump's Katrina. He was a terrible leader for a pandemic - there are very few left who would dispute that.

You missed the point.

Whoever was President, they would have to overcome the moment of inertia in terms of getting a ‘once in a generation’ roll out going, from scratch. If you think Biden would have done any better you’ve forgotten about the Obamacare rollout.

Jim Justice didn’t wait around so he took control and jettisoned the feds. He had local pharmacies coordinate with nursing homes and had the most vulnerable population vaccinated before anyone else. That’s the subtext to this: in large part, this wasn’t exactly the governors ‘shining moment’. Too many of them stood around and waited for the federal government to do their jobs.

WV ranks 38th in population.

New York City metro area has over 12 times the population of the entire state of WV.

That's a lot of vaccinations to complete, and a lot of people living in close proximity.

Are there any subways in WV?

amazing stupidity calling for a national program when WV did it their way and got it done/fuck a "national approach"

Dems dont understand the power of local government addressing local concerns in a grassroot matter.

Dems always want Big Gummint -
even where the states have different situations and can best handle logistics on their own

More dying. More death. More loss. More heartbreak.

More parents and grandparents lost.

More Americans with preexisting conditions being lost.

In case you have never checked it out, I have been keeping track of the Coronavirus Pandemic progress in the USA in a daily thread called

Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

I had no idea when I began that thread almost a year ago how long it would take until we reached the peak.

I also had no idea that when we reached that peak, there might be more than one peak.

Well, we reached a peak at the end of January 2021.

Hooray!

But that wasn't the end of the virus.

It merely meant that we finally stopped adding more new cases than were resolved.

The number of Active Cases peaked and began to fall for the first time. And that felt good.

***

But our progress just halted.

Yesterday, for the first time since the end of January, we began to see the numbers start to rise again.

Yesterday showed more Active Cases than the previous day.

Gov DeSantis of Florida deserves much of the credit for killing our progress.

He foolishly dropped all restrictions in Florida.

And now Florida is recording more New Cases per day than California, even though California has nearly twice as many people.

Spring Break has not been just college kids. Many adults have gone there to get away from the stress of fighting the virus. That has created an epicenter.

Spring Break has become Florida Spring Super-Spreader.

We have not learned our lesson. More pain, more dying, more heartache, more loss are all on the way.

We have got to do better. We have got to be more responsible. We must stay the course until the job is done.

Here is your ouch! If you think tRump and his fellow un American GQPers' pandemic has no borders, than you must be a trolling fool and for the following global reasons:

Brazil surpasses 100,000 new COVID cases in a day

Brazil surpassed 100,000 new COVID-19 cases in one day on Thursday, adding another grim record in country where the pandemic has killed more than 300,000 people, the health ministry said.

With the new cases, at least 12.3 million people are now known to have been infected with the coronavirus in Brazil. After the United States, it is the hardest-hit country anywhere in the world.

The toll has risen steadily since February, due to factors including people's abandoning social distancing norms and a new virus variant that emerged here and is believed to be more contagious than the original strain."

Mortality in the most affected countries
For the twenty countries currently most affected by COVID-19 worldwide, the bars in the chart below show the number of deaths either per 100 confirmed cases (observed case-fatality ratio) or per 100,000 population (this represents a country’s general population, with both confirmed cases and healthy people). Countries at the top of this figure have the most deaths proportionally to their COVID-19 cases or population, not necessarily the most deaths overall."

It is very concerning that Daily New Cases are creeping up again.

It can be seen in the graph of New Cases in the USA:

View attachment 19531

New Cases a week ago on Thursday:

3-25 New Cases +67,046

New Cases yesterday on Thursday:

4-1 New Cases +76,786

Many of the New Cases are more lethal and more transmissible variants

CDC tracking New Variants

The good news is that the number of Active Cases is still falling in Florida.

The bad news is that the number of New Cases has ceased falling and begun to rise.

That portends the possibility of a new wave coming. And many of the new cases are the more transmissible and possibly more lethal new variants from the UK and Brazil, where new surges are shutting everything down.

Observing the graphs showing the peaks of the past two major waves of coronavirus cases for Florida reveals that the number of Active Cases lags about 5 weeks behind New Cases.

If that holds true going forward, we would see the number of Active Cases for Florida begin to rise about 5 weeks after the number of New Cases begins to rise.

Here is the graph of Florida's New Cases:

Screenshot_2021-04-03 Florida Coronavirus 2,071,015 Cases and 33,608 Deaths (COVID-19 ) - Worldo.jpg

As can be seen in this graph, the number of New Cases stopped falling around March 15th and began to rise.

If we can extrapolate this graph based on previous data then we should see the number of Active Cases in Florida cease falling and begin to rise around April 20th.

Now, here's some important factors:

The past history of these trends has been before we had a vaccine.

Now that we are beginning to get more people vaccinated, it will hopefully have an effect on these curves.

The bad part about that is the number of hold-outs who are refusing to get vaccinated. You know, the Republicans who want everyone to give Trump credit for Warp Speed, but then they don't want to take the vaccine themselves. I guess they are simply selfish. They want everyone else to get the vaccine, and are hoping that if enough other people do it then they won't have to. This demonstrates that apparently they wouldn't lift a finger to do anything for their nation. They want to enjoy all that it is being an American, but when their country calls on them to step up and do something for Uncle Sam, the answer is no. I hope they don't have the nerve to fly an American flag or celebrate July 4th. How false and hollow can their 'patriotism' be?

Have a lovely Easter tomorrow....special plans?

We are leveling the curve, but now it's a bad thing because the curve has been dropping.

We don't want to level it out now!

We would like to see it continue to drop just as fast as it had been.

But that is changing. It is starting to level out.

A picture is worth a thousand words:

Screenshot_2021-04-05 United States Coronavirus 31,420,331 Cases and 568,777 Deaths - Worldomete.jpg

You can click that graph of Active Cases for a better view. But just a glance shows that it is leveling out at a level which is three times as high as it was before the last wave.

Not good!

Here's the source.

Active Cases have dropped from a high point on January 23rd of 9,100,000 to 6,900,000 (approx).

That might seem good, and it is, except the number is not falling as quickly as it was. It's starting to level out, and that's bad.

Compare that to Sept 30th last year when the number of Active Cases was 2,400,000.

It's about three times as much!

This is no time to back off on our efforts.

Lives are more important than money!

New York had the most New Cases yesterday with over 7000.

Florida was next with 5000.

California, with twice the population of Florida or New York, had only 1500 new cases. California must be doing something right.

I've got nothing to say here, but PoliTalker won't know that.
He'll just see the ignore message.

I use that function, too, Poli!
I'm sick of Miss Kitty's menstrual cramp whining, for example.
