Saudi Arabia and Russia are discussing raising OPEC and non-OPEC oil production by some 1 million barrels a day, while OPEC's chief said a complaint from U.S. President Donald Trump over higher prices triggered the idea of upping output.

Riyadh and Moscow are prepared to ease output cuts to calm consumer worries about supply adequacy, their energy ministers said on Friday, with Saudi Arabia's Khalid al-Falih adding that any such move would be gradual so as not to shock the market.

Raising production would ease 17 months of strict supply curbs amid concerns that a price rally has gone too far.

Talks are being led by the energy ministers of OPEC kingpin Saudi Arabia and Russia at St. Petersburg this week along with their counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, which holds the OPEC presidency this year.

China has also raised concerns about whether enough oil is being pumped, according to a Saudi statement issued after Energy Minister Falih called China's energy chief on Friday.

OPEC may decide to raise oil output as soon as June.

the reason gas prices are so high is the taxes our government puts on it after we buy it from the Saudi's.

just a thought

It's mainly state taxes, not "our government".

The United States federal excise tax on gasoline is 18.4 cents per gallon and 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel fuel. The federal tax was last raised in 1993 and is not indexed to inflation, which increased by a total of 64.6 percent from 1993 until 2015.

The next issue will be shipping costs because oil tankers now come under emissions control. We'll see $90 a barrel, or more, by 2020.

LOLOL.. We don't buy much oil from Saudi Arabia anymore. Most of our imports come from Canada and VZ.. both of which sell heavy sour crude..

WTI and Brent are always more expensive than OPEC price basket.

Either way, DEMOCRATS will blame Trump, though, right?
they are obstructionist idiots who "giggle" at Trumps attempts to denuke the Korean penn.

Nancy Pelosi's "palsy wowsy" comment says it all..The ENTIRE PARTY is infected w/TDS.

Meh. That's politics.
deligitimization isn't "just politics"
It's a ruination of our ability to govern -to get anything done in a bi-partisan manner.

It's obstructionism on steroids when the Dems hope for impeachment..disgusting

Conservatives don't have clean hands, either.

There is no deep state. Even Pompeo shot that down. However there is no doubt that Russia interfered with the election. What has Trump done about it? Why nothing. Is that what a clean and honest president who cares about honest elections would do? No, but it is what trump would do. Deny and lie . he thinks Russia will help him in the mid terms. that is all he cares about. Trump is as low as you can go.

President Trump issued three executive orders on Friday that are aimed at cutting down on the time it takes to fire federal employees, according to multiple reports.

White House officials announced the impending orders on a call with reporters. The officials said the changes are aimed at saving taxpayers $100 million per year.

White House domestic policy director Andrew Bremberg said the new system will "advance a merit-based system" allowing federal agencies "to remove poorly-performing employees".

The orders call for federal workers to devote at least 75 percent of their on-the-clock time to work-related purposes, direct agencies to reward "performance over seniority" and push agencies to renegotiate contracts with unions, among other provisions.

White House officials said on the call that many of the provisions were part of a wish list the Trump administration delivered to Congress that has yet to be acted on.

"The president called on Congress, they haven’t done so yet. In the meantime, the president is using all available tools in the executive branch to come as close as he can," a senior Trump administration official said.

Union officials called the move an effort to decrease the power of unions.

The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest federal employee union which represents 700,000 government workers, issued a statement calling the move an "assault."
