Papal front runners. If the Black guy becomes the next pope, white Republicans will scream DEI till their buttholes explode

Thanks. If his mission to to bring others to Christ, he needs to rethink how to do that because that sure isn't working. Mostly it seems to me his mission is to bleat about how special and heaven-bound HE is, while everyone else who doesn't follow the same faith is headed in the other direction. IOW, he's weaponizing his version of Christianity like so many others do.

That's how I see so many Christians talk about their faith (particularly on the right). They talk like heaven is a country club where they & their friends will be, but all of the people they don't like or who they disagree with won't.

I've lost count of the # of "I wouldn't want to be you on judgment day" comments I've seen in religious discussions online.

So much hypocrisy. It's why I think a lot of younger people are turning away from religion in general.

Growing up Catholic, the Bible was a minimal part of our culture.
The short Gospel passages read in Mass were pretty much all that we knew of it.

Even Catholic children were not taught the Bible in religion class.
They were taught the Catechism instead.

Catholicism, at least how we were taught, was more about what one did than what one believed.
Similar experience with the Eastern Orthodox tradition. It's a sacramental religion, like Roman Catholicism, and it's the sacraments, the liturgy, and church teaching that really lies at the heart of it.

I don't see my Christian friends and family talk like that, but I most certainly agree MAGAts who claim to be Christians talk like that along with the Televangelists bilking their audience for cash.

Oh, for sure. People who are more quiet about their faith aren't like that. It's the vocal group, led by people who support Christian nationalism and make it more political that exhibit a lot of hypocrisy (imo).

I called my Dad my dad.
Never your father?

C'mon!
Are you just messing with him, Ross? LOL

I never called my father "father" either. Always "Dad". Same for "Mom", never "mother". It's a cultural thing. Some cultures say "Poppa" or "Mama". One of my male relatives was raised Catholic and he called his father "Father" and mother "Mother".

And that is the key reason it is wrong. Tradition is not above scripture. God protects his scripture the church is not above the scripture the scripture is above the church. The Catholic Church made the correct choices when assembling the Bible because of God's guidance protecting his Word. God has always used man to accomplish his will . Many times those men were evil men.

Then why are there more that 20,000 non Catholic Christian denominations?

of course you're correct.

Masonic totalitarian satanists of course reject this and say the "church fathers" are solely allowed to interpret things.

this is cypress's major malfunction.

just more evil and elitism masquerading as truth.

yo fuck the Catholic church.

Why shouldn't innocent infants be part of the kingdom of God? You don't know your church history.

"As the church conquered the pagan world we see infant baptism as arising as a universal practice. In part this appears to be based upon the fact that even in the ancient church there was the concept that baptism was the initiation rite into the community of faith, and infants are born into that community so are baptized. A second factor appears to have been the rise of the understanding of original sin and the belief that baptism washed away the stain of original sin. Third, the ordinances very early were understood as actually conveying grace and accomplishing something spiritually. As early as A.D. 400 Augustine appeals to the universal practice of infant baptism as proof that the church saw infants born with the stain of original sin. We find explicit mention of infant baptism as early as Tertullian around A.D. 220. Tertullian mentions the practice in conjunction with sponsors who would aid in the child’s spiritual training. I would assume that this is the origin of the practice of godparents."

You don't seem to understand the concepts of age of accountability and grace. We all become accountable for our own actions eventually infants aren't accountable for their own actions so they are covered by God's grace.

And one true Church. If you look everyone , save one, has at least one false teaching of the Catholic Church in it. Virtually all of the protestant churches have splintered out of the Catholic Church and took with them false doctrine from the Catholic Church. The Bible is the one infallible guide for Christians. If your denomination is teaching something counter to the Bible then you need to pray for God's help in finding the correct one.
