Paralyzed man weeps as high court denies his right-to-die

A British man, paralyzed from the neck down, broke down Thursday upon hearing he had lost his battle to end his life of “pure torture,” Agence France-Presse reported.

Tony Nicklinson suffers from locked-in syndrome, for which there is no cure. He openly wept as he watched the high court’s verdict read aloud on his computer.

this is wrong on so many levels. there is no cure. it is his life.

damn. he can't even put a gun to his head.

why not just roll his wheelchair off a cliff or something? O_o

He'll likely OD on some meds. It's the pretty typical death for people who want to die. A bottle of vicodin is easy enough to come by.

he's completely paralyzed though. he can only blink. that's his problem. someone would have to give him enough to overdose, and that person would be charged with murder.

It's terrible that guy was a real action man, I can see why he thinks his life is pointless now.

The father-of-two, who is washed, dressed and fed mashed-up food through a tube twice a day, said he is 'fed up' with his undignified life and does not want to 'dribble his way into old age'. He is too ill to travel to the Swiss suicide clinic run by Dignitas and wants his 54-year-old wife to be able to help him commit suicide if he asks her to. Under current laws Mrs Nicklinson would be prosecuted for murder and given a mandatory life sentence.
