have you ever served in our armed forces deployed overseas? visits from stateside dignitaries are always a welcome relief from the day to day.
I served often overseas in the UK armed forces, much of that time alongside us troops.
The general opinion of deployed troops is get the tour finished and get home.
It's a major pain to be pulled back to a safe area to listen to some ass of a politician bump their gums and get a photo taken.
Clearly you have never served.
Perhaps as a remf living in remfville safe from enemy fire, stirring soup or counting blankets, the first in line to lech at visiting dignitaries.
Whilst the real soldiers were risking life and limb doing the job that you were afraid to do!

you're incorrect in you assessment. I am retired from the US Navy with 25 years in uniform. Our experiences with VIP visitors are clearly different.

Well, some of us aren't sycophants like you. I don't give two shits about politicians of any stripe. The only President I would have ever wanted to meet was Reagan. I would turn my back on Obama if given a chance. Wouldn't let the dirtbag get near me.

If you willfully turned your back on the CinC while in uniform and in close proximity, I'd court martial your sorry ass.

Wow, they are doing a really poor job of trying to make the sequestration hurt the "other" party. Keep it up Nancy, nobody believes you and you look like a total colon.

I won't speak for ALL the troops, but I don't imagine an awful lot of them will be disappointed. I remember passing on an opportunity to meet Clinton for an extra 2 hours of sleep.

I'm sure Bill was heartbroken.

Thanks for your service, fellow retiree!

It wouldn't be the first time he turned his back on another man. *wink*

Navy!!
Cushy number.
Remember remfville?
The navy are the ultimate remfs.

We are talking about the army here though, not a bunch of easy street sailor boys, the ultimate remfs!!

Soldiers have balls enough to stand up for what's right( remember the lad who challenged the secretary of defense under bush?
About equipment issues?

If he did that under Obama he would be a statistic in the next chopper crash!!

good soldiers behave within the constraints of the UCMJ. Bad ones don't, and then they get a court martial and a BCD.

Looks like the sailor boys have plenty of time to study regulations lounging around in safety whilst the infantry are busy not counting blankets and dodging danger .

Should I be the one to ask...

Why should she visit troops on Mothers Day? She's a mother herself, so she should take it easy and spend the day with her family and let them cater to her for a bit.

And I don't even like her...

Some female troops are mothers. It's supposed to honor them.

Well, if you absolutely must take the cowardly route with art. 134, I'll take the Big Chicken Dinner. And I would DEMAND a court-martial because I think I could make a pretty good case against 134. You actually (willingly)sacrifice a LOT of your rights to become an enlisted person in the U.S. military, expressing your dissatisfaction with your NATIONAL leadership in a non-violent manner is not one of them. Besides, I would have a better way that involves pickled eggs, baked beans, milk, cabbage and Miller beer. I'd shake Obama's hand. Hell, I'd hug the SOB.

actually... all that would be necessary would be for your superior officer to give you a direct order to turn around, face the president, stand at attention and shut your mouth....disobey that and we'd slide right over to art. 92. How'd that work for ya?

Works for me. Sometimes you gotta draw the line. On second thought, I'd probably obey that order, because hey, mission accomplished!

actually... if you were to have been in my unit, I would have figured out what a malcontent disrespectful loser you were and figured out how to railroad you out long before anything like this ever came up. My rule was always: play on my team and work for unit success I'll reward you and I'll help you now and help you go further in the service if you want to. Don't play on my team and I'll squash you like a fucking bug. It was a surprisingly successful rule... and over the course of my career, I had to squash only a handful of bugs.
