Pelosi won't budge on troop pullback dates in war funding bill

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A top Democrat who had hinted that a compromise on war funding was possible appeared to back away from the idea Friday as the Democratic congressional leadership refused to consider it....
..............On Friday, Murtha appeared to back away from supporting the compromise, saying "the fact remains that the war in Iraq cannot be won militarily" and that the Iraqi government has failed to capitalize on "window of opportunity" created by the additional U.S. troops.
 
My prediction?

They'll bend over, take it up the pipe and do what the Republicans want anyway. Won't be the first time.
 
We'll see. My gut tells me you're right, but I'm still holding on to a glimmer of hope that they've gotten some cajuna's finally.

However did nancy visit the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan over the Thanksgiving Holiday...nope but John McCain did...the troops told him they wanted to finish this war...it never fails to amaze me that those in harms way do not have a problem doing their job...but those who sit in their cozy living rooms try their best to put words in the soldiers mouths...why is that?

Some of wish to continue, some of them don't. McCain lost all credibility with me when he was walking around the green zone with 100 security personell and proclaiming that Baghdad was much akin to Paris with the coffee shops and such.

But, when people get to a certain age, their brains start to fog up. Ain't that right old timer? :cof1:

clear as a bell...I suppose I am clear since I don't partake in the Libertarian smokies,mushrooms and whatever else you need to get thru the day...;)

Now as far as security in Baghdad...you may be on to something comparing it to Paris...do you want these same people coming here?..If not let the troops finish the job...kay!~

They finished their job 4 years ago. Remember "Mission Accomplished LOL"?

Their job was to remove Hussein, which they did. Their job is not to occupy a foreign country for the next 50 years.

as for the 50 year comment...golly gee Mr.Wizard we still have troops in Germany,Japan and Korea some 50+ years later...:shock:

We're not occupying Germany, Japan or Korea. And our military presence there has really only taken that expense off their own backs, and allowed for them to become more socialized. That's fine, but make them defend themselves on their own dime.

We shouldn't be in 140 countries around the world, we're not supposed to be an Empire. Empires fail, all of them.

And I don't wear panties, unless specifically asked by a woman with large, natural, round, soft eyes.

Please define occupation...? And I agree as to we should pull our troops out of Korea,Japan and Germany...this would release them for the real fight at hand! And give our troops in country a decent break...more soldiers to rotate=R&R and possibly only having to serve one deployment like in the VN war!
