People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb

Some of us have other things to do than to bait others and check spelling. You have no argument. Got one or go. I hear your trolls calling.

So you are saying that you don't believe racist are stupid or that a correlation has not been proven?
Well, one could argue that the conclusion being drawn here is dangerously close to being an ad hominem logical fallacy. I know quite a few people who are anything but stupid yet do hold significantly racist views.

There are many poor communities that are neighborly, with low violence, where they care for each other, their families, and their neighbors.

In urban areas, there are poor communities with high levels of violence. It definitely ties to violence, not race

As to why - it's complicated. But this study looks pretty good -A lot of it seems to be the inequality between poor and rich areas.

I imagine unemployment among poor youth also factors in; when there's nothing else to do, and no hope of things getting better, violence is an option for them.

But it's complicated. And of course, this is just focusing on violence among the poor, and not the many law-breaking activities done by the rich- they may not be as violent, but they dodge taxes, commit fraud, sexually assault women, murder etc. as well.

You raise an interesting point; the rich often get away with their crimes.

So? They are not mutually exclusive. There are enviromental factors as well. Neither serve to disprove Stringfellow's theory.

That sums it up. But he's young; he can learn

If he were simply ignorant, you would be correct.
It is good that you give the benefit of the doubt, but Poet is correct; Pisskop is an idiot, and as such learns little and with difficulty. This thread is a perfect example.

Oh, Rune, so nice of you to creep in and contribute to the conversation in a stimulating fashion.

Speaks volumes. Green as a twig. Knows little of nothing.

I've got no problem with self-made men, but,,, they don't exist. To say otherwise is to deny the basic sociality of human beings. We're given so much in out lives - by friends, families, teachers and mentors, co-workers, and generous strangers - for a person's success to be entirely attributed to their self.

I did. Sorry for the delay. :hide:

I'd say it's irrefutable that they exist at the level of ghetto --> to success, at the very least. These people have nothing going for them, and have had to survive growing up with little/no education, the threat of death/violence every day, and a local culture that only teaches them failure and set-backs. Most people could not succeed in such an environment.
