Pfizer says Covid-19 Vaccine is 90% effective... Stocks LOVE it.

Of course Trump is probably taking credit for it. Probably because he was a large part of getting the policy in place that made it possible. And I never notice the groans on another person. Tom is doing that to bother you.

Is it right for a President to claim credit for all the work just by signing a piece of paper? Do you give Obama credit for killing Osama bin Laden or do you credit the patriotic Americans serving our nation who actually made it happen?

Agreed Tom is doing it to bother me. It's funny because it doesn't hurt, but does give me incentive to avenge the attempt of harm. I don't need to be a member of this or any forum to do it.

I believe you are sadly mischaracterizing how people felt about it. But heck. I'm glad if folks will take the vaccine now and "Trust Trump" because Democrats will no longer be trying to downplay its success to hurt Trump. I'm sad if that political jockeying will make some people afraid to get vaccinated because it associates to Trump.

Trump hurt his own credibility - it had nothing to do w/ Dems. From pushing untested therapeutics to injecting disinfectant, Trump has been a constant source of misinformation.

Democrats were perfectly correct to say that he should not be trusted. He shouldn't be, ever. But that's a separate issue from what drug companies are doing on the vaccine front.

This is a MASSIVE success if this is true, and it is what is driving the largest gain I've seen in the stock market at the open.

I’m hopeful/skeptical about a vaccine but it’s the only thing both sides can cheer about.

The only bad thing about a vaccine is that it will deprive us of witnessing the utter impotence of Biden’s Magic COVID wand.

The market looks at is as the threat of Biden lockdown is gone. Lord, willing anyway. I’m beyond over COVID.

Yes, if he was effective removing the red tape that would have cost us time, then yeah he should be happy and take a portion of the credit for this success. This idea that he should pretend that he didn't take an active part in removing the barriers to speed in this case is absurd.

“THIS ISN’T ABOUT POLITICS. IT’S ABOUT SAVING LIVES.”

PRESIDENT-ELECT JOE BIDEN, SEPTEMBER 16, 2020

The Biden-Harris Administration will plan for the effective, equitable distribution of treatments and vaccines — because development isn’t enough if they aren’t effectively distributed.

  • Invest $25 billion in a vaccine manufacturing and distribution plan that will guarantee it gets to every American, cost-free.
  • Ensure that politics plays no role in determining the safety and efficacy of any vaccine. The following 3 principles will guide the Biden-Harris administration: Put scientists in charge of all decisions on safety and efficacy; publicly release clinical data for any vaccine the FDA approves; and authorize career staff to write a written report for public review and permit them to appear before Congress and speak publicly uncensored.
  • Ensure everyone — not just the wealthy and well-connected — in America receives the protection and care they deserve, and consumers are not price gouged as new drugs and therapies come to market.

You are right to be cautiously optimistic.

President-elect Biden released a statement through his transition team with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, urging Americans to keep up their efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Last night, my public health advisors were informed of this excellent news. I congratulate the brilliant women and men who helped produce this breakthrough and to give us such cause for hope,” the president-elect said.

“At the same time, it is also important to understand that the end of the battle against COVID-19 is still months away. This news follows a previously announced timeline by industry officials that forecast vaccine approval by late November. Even if that is achieved, and some Americans are vaccinated later this year, it will be many more months before there is widespread vaccination in this country.”

“Today’s news does not change this urgent reality. Americans will have to rely on masking, distancing, contact tracing, hand washing, and other measures to keep themselves safe well into next year. Today’s news is great news, but it doesn’t change that fact,” he said.

This is the timeline I've mentally prepared for. We are in for a very dark winter. But spring is coming.

I'm more than happy to give the failed on-termer some credit on this one. He was there for 4 years; it would be hard to get every single thing wrong.

Too bad for him this didn't happen 2 weeks ago. But he & his supporters were too focused on "laptopgate" anyway. Speaking of which....what happened to that one? Is it in the same file as Obama's birth certificate & the unmasking now?

Our thanks to the foreign manufacturers for withholding the news until El Trumpo was toast. Es lebe Nord Stream 2

Of course, this may become known as The Great Stock-Market Vaccine Scam. We'll see.

Again, cutting the red tape, a large part of the Warp Speed thing there, was absolutely part of what made testing for Pfizer possible, even without federal grant money. You need to stop selectively remembering. Without that it would have taken over a year before testing of a vaccine could reach even close to this point.

That will go down the Memory Hole.

President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris have a seven-point plan to beat COVID-19.

President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will ensure all Americans have access to regular, reliable, and free testing.

  • Double the number of drive-through testing sites.
  • Invest in next-generation testing, including at home tests and instant tests, so we can scale up our testing capacity by orders of magnitude.
  • Stand up a Pandemic Testing Board like Roosevelt’s War Production Board. It’s how we produced tanks, planes, uniforms, and supplies in record time, and it’s how we will produce and distribute tens of millions of tests.
  • Establish a U.S. Public Health Jobs Corps to mobilize at least 100,000 Americans across the country with support from trusted local organizations in communities most at risk to perform culturally competent approaches to contact tracing and protecting at-risk populations.

So, how many lives do you think will be saved by Operation Warp Speed lol?

Sure, just like Obama removed all that red tape to kill Osama bin Laden. LOL

Nope. My position is fact based. Yours is 100% partisan. It is what it is. it is a fact that Trump was pressuring the FDA to approve a vaccine before election day. He made no secret of that. It is beyond the pale that a President would risk the health of Americans in order to win an election, but Trump did it in spades. And for some reason, you love him for it. I don't get it. When a vaccine is approved because it has passed the rigor of clinical trials and has been fully betted, I'll take it. When a vaccine is approved to help someone win an election, I'm going to be skeptical. It has nothing to do with 'Trump' and everything to do with the process.

Lord willing [in all sincerity] if the vaccine is out and distributed quickly enough, Team Biden will never get the opportunity to *subject us* to any of that.

Right.... because killing somebody in some other country is the same thing as removing regulatory barriers to speed up reaction time to a pandemic.

But if that's how it fits in your head, then go with it.
