Pfizer says Covid-19 Vaccine is 90% effective... Stocks LOVE it.

Lord willing [in all sincerity] if the vaccine is out and distributed quickly enough, Team Biden will never get the opportunity to *subject us* to any of that.

The Biden-Harris Transition Team has laid out a step-by-step plan for addressing the coronavirus pandemic that includes more testing, increasing use of the Defense Production Act to make protective equipment for frontline workers and restoring the U.S. relationship with the World Health Organization.

The Transition Team has wasted no time, announcing today that its own Covid-19 advisory board is co-chaired by former FDA Commissioner Dr. David Kessler, former Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, the associate dean for health equity research at the Yale School of Medicine.

So, how many lives do you think will be saved by Operation Warp Speed lol?

A lot. Too many to count but certainly hundreds of thousands in the US alone. Too bad it took Trump three months to do anything about it. How many tens of thousands of lives would have been saved if Trump had done something about COVID-19 in January instead of waiting until the end of April?

The real irony here is that Pfizer's research wasn't part of Operation Warp Speed. LOL

The state of play: The first case of COVID-19 reached the U.S. on Jan. 15. The World Health Organization declared it a pandemic on March 11. Trump declared the U.S. outbreak a national emergency on March 13.

  1. On Jan. 18, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar first briefed Trump on the threat of the virus in a phone call, the New York Times reports. Trump made his first public comments about the virus on Jan. 22, saying he was not concerned about a pandemic and that "we have it totally under control."
  2. On Jan. 27, White House aides met with then-acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney to try to get senior officials to take the virus threat more seriously, the Washington Post reports. Joe Grogan, the head of the White House Domestic Policy Council, warned it could cost Trump his re-election.
  3. On Jan. 29, economic adviser Peter Navarro warned the White House in a memo addressed to the National Security Council that COVID-19 could take more than half a million American lives and cause nearly $6 trillion in economic damage.
  4. On Jan. 30, Azar warned Trump in a subsequent call that the virus could become a pandemic and that China should be criticized for its lack of transparency, per the Times. Trump dismissed Azar as alarmist and rejected the idea of criticizing China.

Warp Speed, first revealed by Bloomberg News on 29 April, has so far only been outlined. President Donald Trump briefly discussed the initiative the next day, saying, “We’re going to fast track it like you’ve never seen before.” According to a CNN report on 1 May, which the source who spoke to Science confirmed, Warp Speed intends to deliver the first 100 million doses of a vaccine in November and another 200 million over the following 2 months.

Announced on May 15, Operation Warp Speed (OWS) — a partnership of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Defense (DOD), and the private sector — aims to accelerate control of the Covid-19 pandemic by advancing development, manufacturing, and distribution of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics. OWS is providing support to promising candidates and enabling the expeditious, parallel execution of the necessary steps toward approval or authorization of safe products by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“Pfizer, unlike its competitors, did not join Operation Warp Speed, the government initiative designed to erase the financial risk of vaccine and therapeutics development by providing funding to companies and helping coordinate the trials,” The Washington Post’s Carolyn Y. Johnson reported Monday. “Instead, Pfizer plowed $2 billion of its own money into the project and then struck a $1.95 billion contract with the U.S. government to provide 100 million doses, contingent on the vaccine being effective.”

“We were never part of the Warp Speed,” Pfizer vice president Kathrin Jansen told the New York Times. “We have never taken any money from the U.S. government, or from anyone.

Pfizer literally said today that they weren't.

Again, without the regulatory changes that were part of Warp Speed they would not have been able to do stage three testing within a year. It simply was not possible until that red tape was cut.

Pretending that saying they didn't take federal funds is the same thing as saying they had no benefit whatsoever from that change is only that, pretense.

The reality, changes that Trump made as part of Warp Speed benefitted every single company that is currently Stage 3 testing. Because before those changes it would have been more than a year before stage 3 testing would be possible.

Right.... because killing somebody in some other country is the same thing as removing regulatory barriers to speed up reaction time to a pandemic.

But if that's how it fits in your head, then go with it.

Does it hurt to know that Pfizer's vaccine isn't part of Operation Warp Speed?

BTW, do you think Trump is a Trekkie or that the name was probably Jarod's idea?

If there’s anything to this—that is all moot lol.

I understand they don’t want to credit Trump with anything. But Pfizer has no control over the FDA.

Your President, does.

Fucking pathetic! You are desperately trying to credit a science denying/suppressing government for the success of the free market and Pfizer.

Pfizer is a German company, not an American one.

So you should give credit to Angela Merkel.

It's a massive success for president Trump and Warp Speed.

You can take it to the bank that the Democrats will credit Biden with this success sometime starting in January. The only way it won't be, and it will be a complete kick in the teeth to them is if this vaccine is out and in fairly wide use before Trump leaves office. Then the whole story will instantly disappear in January along with any mention of Biden wanting mandated masks, more testing, and a national lockdown...

Your President, does.

Nice to see you not deny Pfizer was not part of Operation Warp Speed despite your lies that this vaccine is Trump's.

If there’s anything to this—that is all moot lol.

You are deluded by conspiracy theories.

The Pfizer vaccine is only effective in individuals who have never been infected.

President-elect Biden has repeatedly said he would listen to scientists like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“I would be prepared to do whatever it takes to save lives, because we cannot get the country moving until we control the virus,” Biden told ABC News during an August interview with now-Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. “In order to keep the country running and moving and the economy growing, and people employed, you have to fix the virus.”

“I would shut it down. I would listen to the scientists,” he said.

The Trump administration, by contrast, allowed state governors to decide whether and when to shut down or reopen businesses, impose mask requirements and purchase their own testing materials and personal protective gear.

“It’s been 50 states going in 50 different directions from the beginning,” said Dr. Howard Koh, a professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and former assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services during the Obama administration. “And as a result, we have witnessed this rolling thunder of disease and death that’s lasted into the 10th month and counting,” he said.

President-elect Biden’s plan, in contrast, calls for a coordinated national strategy. That includes broader use of the Defense Production Act, which Trump was hesitant to deploy early on, to ensure that the U.S.A. has a supply of essential health-care equipment, like masks and face shields, whose use will be made mandatory nationwide.

Good luck with your "Do over." I for one won't be playing along. Biden's plan amounts to another 'Carter special' like the national 55 mph speed limit. It does nothing and people are going to quickly grow to hate it.

Do you really think the government produces vaccines lol.

Time for another medical tutorial? It’s been a minute. You’re probably due one.

It's an American company but not part of Operation Warp Speed

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Pfizer-Inc
Pfizer, Inc., one of the world’s largest research-based pharmaceutical and biomedical companies, dedicated to discovering, developing, manufacturing, and marketing prescription medications for both humans and animals. Headquarters are in New York City.

Pfizer was founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 1849 as Charles Pfizer & Company by the German chemist and entrepreneur Charles Pfizer and his cousin Charles Erhart, a confectioner. The company, then a fine-chemicals business, was financed with a $2,500 loan from Pfizer’s father. Pfizer and Erhart achieved immediate success with their first product, a flavourful form of santonin—an anthelmintic drug used to treat intestinal worms, a common affliction in the mid-1800s. The subsequent demand for disinfectants, preservatives, and painkillers during the American Civil War (1861–65) doubled the company’s revenue and allowed for its expansion. In the late 1800s its citric acid production soared with the increasing popularity of cola drinks, producing decades of growth for the company.
