Not a problem.
How do you recomend we go about confronting this shit?
as far as seattle goes, they are currently under a DOJ probe about serious misconduct and policy issues. That is why the state legislature has a bill entered for debate that will make it illegal for washington state police agencies to comply with DOJ recommendations. No surprise that the legislator that wrote this bill is a former cop and union president. It ultimately comes down to we the people. The citizens of any municipality need to hold their elected representatives responsible. some suggestions would be..
1) ignore politicians that go out of their way for law enforcement support during campaigns
2) make state constitutional amendments that no government entity is authorized to be insured against illegal acts or misconduct, meaning that the ease of settlements being paid out of insurance pools is gone.
3) educate we the people better on the state of the law and their rights as jurors. remove some of the power out of the courtroom where it pertains to judges instructing idiots that they may only judge the facts of the case as it pertains to the law as the judge explains it. make sure they are informed of jury nullification.
4) civilian oversight boards. police officers are way too protected by union contracts with cities. remove some of that protection by forcing immediate contract re-negotiations. ensure that oversight boards have the power to supbpoena individual officers testimony, that they no longer have 'rights' as public servants. No more 'garrity' protections. No more saving their pensions by retiring or resigning before they are fired or charged with criminal acts.
5) separate grand jury proceedings by special prosecutors, who have no law enforcement ties, to present cases of misconduct to see if officers should be charged with crimes related to their acts as police officers.
6) actually hold them to higher standards for once, meaning that instead of giving 10 years probation to a cop for sexual assault of a 16 year old because he 'served the community', give him life in prison.
7) remove judges from the bench who have obvious records of favoritism towards cops being sentenced for crimes.
