Not at all. Everyone would still have the right to believe in gods, unicorns, gnomes, whatever you want. But in order to work in government, you should be mentally stable and mature enough to accept reality.

Of course the country is a priority. That's why I wouldn't vote for a candidate that promises to help the country, but has a history of pathological lying and ripping off the working-class. Obviously, that candidate would use the office to enrich themselves while dicking over the workers.

I never said the country didn't matter. I think that both policies and character are important in improving the country. I also think that blind loyalty to a political party is antithetical to improving the country.

I also agree blind loyalty to a political party is antithetical to improving the country. If the Dems put up someone who will do better than Trump at improving the country, I'll vote for them. So far, they haven't. They still don't have one.

I do not place such purity tests on candidates for president, such as do they believe in God or not, or whether they are atheists or not, before making my decision. My decision to select a president is based on how much they believe in the Constitution, Democracy, and Freedom For All- including freedom of Religion!
