The Taliban stopped heroin production. Under US occupation, heroin production doubled.

I'm not sure we even know the full extent of their poppy farming!

Probably what we can pickup from satellite!

I think they also use poppy seeds as a food source.

Obama tried to stop Afghanistan's drug trade in 2009 by giving them 300 million dollars to replant poppy fields with wheat and other grains, develop livestock, irrigation, roads to new farms etc.

It worked for a while. But didn't last as many eventually resorted back to the money crop!
