"We made abundantly clear that if they did not live up to that piece of paper … we weren't going to allow them to just walk away from any deal that they struck, we were going to go crush them," Pompeo said.

After a week-long deal to reduce violence across Afghanistan, the U.S. and the Taliban signed a historic agreement Saturday that would see U.S. troops start to withdraw, according to a statement issued Friday afternoon by President Donald Trump.

"Soon, at my direction, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will witness the signing of an agreement with representatives of the Taliban, while Secretary of Defense Mark Esper will issue a joint declaration with the government of Afghanistan. If the Taliban and the government of Afghanistan live up to these commitments, we will have a powerful path forward to end the war in Afghanistan and bring our troops home," Trump said.

They fail to realize if the four presidents that presided over this clusterfuck of a war, the same thing would have happened, even Bush, if he would have pulled out 13 years ago.
NONE of the four presidents should have announced anything because not ONE had a viable exit strategy.

Pompeo said this was a “real achievement,” and that the 19 years of war had “greatly reduced the risk that an attack on the United States of America would emanate from Afghan soil.” The deal with the Taliban has as one of its centerpieces a Taliban promise to keep al-Qaeda and ISIS out of Afghanistan.

Sounds as retarded as U.S. Secretary of State Blinken claims Biden's Afghanistan policy is successful despite the fact that in just a short few weeks the Taliban has taken control of the entire country creating a massive humanitarian crisis for hundreds of thousands of Afghani women and children.
