Poor Polar Bears

wow... that is a truly pathetic attempt at spin....

This thread was started on the topic of 'polar bears in danger'. That is the point I refuted. Then you came trotting along with your holier than thou bullshit of 'that website is hardly scientific, me have a link to grand website with bucco info of scientific quality'

The fact that your website showed a study that said EXACTLY what I was saying and EXACTLY what the article you mocked stated was quite amusing.

Now you are trying to spin this into a discussion solely on the quantity of sea ice?

As I stated... quite pathetic.

Admit it... you didn't even READ the link you provided.... did you?

My cousin is polar bear and he says their numbers are in decline. My source is better than your Canadian townies so you're wrong.

again.... the topic is not global warming, but polar bears being in danger.

Do try to read what was written in Mott's "peer reviewed piece on PB's"

Oh - should have read it. I saw that tinfoil posted, so assumed it was a warming thread.

Polar bears are definitely in trouble, to get back to topic.

The special little yellow bus is about to depart... time for you to get on board.

Leave the topic for those capable of intelligent discussion. Mott has already proven with a peer reviewed piece that the 'studies' showing polar bears in trouble are worthless political bullshit.

Actually, even assuming that your assessment of the piece Mott linked to is true, at best it shows that two particular studies were flawed in some respects. It says nothing about the report that Rana posted or, frankly, any report other than the two discussed.

I would have thought that as well as there was always a miserable looking polar bear at all the zoos i visited as a kid.

Apparently (up to October 2009 anyway) we only have one, an ex-pat from Canadia called Mercedes. Sensible name for a polar bear.

It looks like the PC brigade has got rid of the polar bears at London Zoo. So here is one bear population that has declined because of climate change or more correctly climate change hysteria.

How many polar bears do you have in the UK?

I hear tell that they still prowl at night in the frozen wastes of the British tundra (mostly around Alnwick) and that maidens from that town, if maidens there be, venture abroad in fear of their lives. Or am I getting confused with Geordies? Maybe. Sounds similar though.

Recent studies are showing that where polar bear populations are declining, the phenomena can be attributed to contact with human activities, while correlating declining population to climate change cannot be supported by the data. Polar bear populations that are more secluded from human activity are stable or growing. Populations around areas where human activity has been on the increase are the ones showing decline.

There are some very wild predators about in that part of the world.
