Portrait of a Modern Feminist: Helen Smith

And to show you where the bias lay, Compare leftwing Feminists view of Wolf's The Beauty Myth to Paglia's Sexual Personae.

Well first you'd have to read both works to even begin to address those "views".

So you are talking about a fair amount of work. I mean, just reading "feminists" (which ones?) "views" of a work would leave you with very little idea of whether their critiques were valid or not. I like to know what I'm talking about before I start shooting off my mouth. That's just how I am.

Camille Paglia, a 'feminist'. :rofl2:

First off, I did read the whole article, and in many ways she is correct. Men, even when they get sole custody of their children, and it happens more than you think, they rarely if ever qualify for WIC. In most states you will find little to no pursuit of women who own back child support. Currently in NM several attorney's are looking into a class action suit because men are almost NEVER assisted by Child Support Enforcement in getting back child support from Women. The local head of CSED is on record as saying a man who has sole custody of his children shouldn't be looking for handouts from the state. In the area of Domestic Violence, women need no evidence anymore. Their word is all that is required to get a restraining order and finding of domestic violence. My own ex-wife had a seizure, was able to call me just before she seized, hit the foot board of our bed and went out like a light. After I got to the house, gave her the meds to stop the seizure and then left, she called the police and told them the mark on her head was from me punching her. Luckily the next day she divulged to another lawyer that she lied to the police and he reported it. Nonetheless, because at the time she said her injury was from my striking her I was arrested, a temporary restraining order was imposed and I was removed from a rental property we owned because she said we both lived there even though she resided in our house and I was living in the rental. Subsequently I was able to prove to the court that I lived their alone and the order was withdrawn. Women, through VAWA have been able to claim domestic violence without ever having called the police, telling another soul about it and courts just take their word for it without a scintilla of evidence.

What state do you men live in where a women can claim she was abused without proof. I have never heard of a case in Alaska where they just took the word of the person who was abused. Alaska must have superior laws compared to other states.

Wow, what a 'feminist':

You have to accept the fact that part of the sizzle of sex comes from the danger of sex. You can be overpowered.

Every man must define his identity against his mother. If he does not, he just falls back into her and is swallowed up.

Leaving sex to the feminists is like letting your dog vacation at the taxidermist.

If civilization had been left in female hands we would still be living in grass huts.

:rofl2:

IN NY they issue a temporary restraining order immediately. (for obvious reasons, if I have to explain this to you please stay away from women, at least wear a warning sign). However, you must then, within days, present evidence of the order will be dropped.

I can only answer that based on my experiences and what I've observed. I understand not all men might think this way. I don't know if this is just a product of where I went to school or where I live but men basically define themselves by their work and how much money they make. I can't recall ever hearing a single male friend/acquatenance (sp) say they wanted to stay home with the kids while their wife works. That's not to say it couldn't happen I've just never heard anyone talk about it.

That's the same with my experiences too, I just wanted to hear if a man would say it. And it's just another reason why women have so much trouble getting ahead. You have old farts like bravo saying that society went down the tubes when women started to speak up for themselves, postpone marriage and child-bearing, and enter the work force in greater numbers. IOW America was supposedly a better place when men and women followed the traditional paths. So in those minds women get the blame for the so-called demise of traditional values. Then they get criticized for wanting equality, criticized for putting kids in day care, criticized for being stay-at-home moms, criticized for not contributing financially to the household, criticized for wanting to join the Augusta country club, etc. etc. Now come the latest buzzwords, that there's a war on men. It's just so much BS.

Actually, and without a doubt unbeknownst to Soc, she and Naomi would get along like a house on fire these days.

I'm sorry you married a crazy woman who falsely accused you of domestic violence. That has no bearing on the millions of women beaten every day in their homes. But I did have one tiny little tear fall while reading of your tragedy.

It seems to me that the point Soc was trying to make is that in domestic violence cases, the man loses unless he can prove his innocence. And even then he must do so without assistance from the police.

I know of a specific case, the woman attacked the man. He left so the physical violence would stop. When he went back the cops were there. That they looked at him as the perpetrator was not surprising. What was surprising was that they too 3 packs of polaroid pics of her and refused to take a single one of him or his injuries because they "had determined them to be defensive injuries". Nt much chance for the guy in that case.

I don't think these are exceedingly rare or isolated incidents. I think every domestic violence case should be investigated as if both parties could be responsible.

Mott, I have a few questions, because in Alaska the assets would be divided, unless there were young children. Did your wife work outside the home or was she a stay at home wife, at your insistence?

Your divorce was extremely unfair if here were no children, even with children I have never heard of a decision that was this one sided. My two friends recently split from their husbands, both stay at home wives, they got half of the assets and no alimony. The other friends with children, split assets and custody. Alaska is a no fault divorce state. My other friend, hubby got custody of the child and there were no marital assets.

It is interesting how each case is determined. Thanks

I never heard of such a one-sided decision either.

Well, there's a lot of money to me made by calling yourself a feminist and writing books about why women suck.

A lot of men need the validation it seems. They eat that up.

But then, sucking cock always paid pretty well if you're willing to spend your life on your knees, right?

And there's always a pat on your head from a man in it too.

To each their own.

Very often the disparity in pay comes into play here. Often the man makes more, so it is easier to lose the lesser income.

I will say that being a stay-at-home Dad when my oldest was born was a life changing experience.

She didn't have the guts to come right out and say that the notion of rape was a turn on - TO HER. She assumes all women are as sexually fucked up as she is.

Blecchh.

The right wing projects. Plenty of leftist feminists will discuss and write about female rape fantasies, even their own, but they do not project their own fantasies onto all women. Projection is totally a right wing thing, that I am sure of. I have yet to meet a righty who doesn't engage in a ridiculous amount of it. To the point where I always know; when a righty's making accusations, read closely...cause it's a confession.

Actually, it's been Tom making that argument on this thread Christie. Not Bravo.

Indeed!

Or maybe Bravo said something like that early on in the thread. I can't say for sure because I didn't notice it. Probably because I was distracted by the EIGHTY fucking posts Tom made making that exact argument, and far worse.

But it is possible Bravo is also an old fart holding and expressing those opinions and just hasn't been quite as loud about them in this thread as Tom. I don't want to defend Bravo. I could have missed it. What I didn't miss were those, you know, EIGHTY fucking posts.

It wasn't this particular thread, just numerous other ones. Sorry for the confusion.

I had hair pulled from my scalp, scratches on my forehead going from the eyebrows back to the top of my head and a bite mark on my back and the police refused to take ANY pictures of my injuries.
