Here's the deal.....all this "gov't spying on you" was a reality over 40 years ago! Currently technology just makes it easier....less cumbersome and more accessible to the professional and general public.
When you get the chance, rent/download or watch for free the 1974 movie The Conversation, a real time take on the technology then. A modern update on that issue was the 1998 movie Enemy of the State. Both films had Gene Hackman as a star (who is still alive today!).
So all this "hair on fire" attitude about China and Tik Tok I take with a grain of salt.
