In a nation where only 60% of eligible voters bother to vote, I agree.

asked Google AI which demographics are least likely to vote. The results are below. Notice that they will be among those hardest hit by MAGAtry:

Demographics in the United States least likely to vote tend to be younger individuals, people of color (specifically Hispanic and Asian Americans), those with lower levels of education, and those with lower incomes.

Key Demographics with Low Turnout

  • Age: Young people consistently have the lowest voter turnout rates. In the 2024 presidential election, just 47.7% of citizens ages 18 to 24 voted, compared to 74.7% of people 65 and older, who were the most likely age group to vote.
    • In 2024, 70.5% of eligible white non-Hispanic people voted, compared to 50.6% of Hispanic voters and 57.1% of Asian voters.
    • Hispanic citizens are particularly likely to have not voted in any recent national elections.
  • Education Level: Turnout is strongly correlated with educational attainment. In the 2024 election, non-voters were more than twice as likely as voters to have a high school degree or less education.
  • Income Level: Americans with lower incomes vote at much lower rates than wealthy Americans. Nearly half of non-voters have a family income of less than $30,000, compared to less than one-fifth of likely voters.
    • Gender: Women tend to be more reliable voters than men in presidential elections.
    • Disability Status: Citizens with certain disabilities, such as self-care difficulties, also have lower turnout rates.
    • Employment Status: People who are unemployed are less engaged in voting than those who are employed.
These disparities often lead to less political engagement from candidates and campaigns toward these groups, further perpetuating the gap in turnout.

I was wrong about that meme. They still have mass shootings but some of those were before their stricter laws. I can see people living in that desolate dry outback might go a little postal though. But statistics will bear me out on shooting per population......... 4x the rate here.

I was being serious about "how you define" mass shooting. Technically, drive-by shootings count as mass shootings if there are 4 or more people involved. That seems silly.

The Democrats have been repeating the same idea of gun bans for 30 year and hoping for a different result. IMO, they should try a different strategy to achieve the same goal: reduce deaths from suicide and the occasional murder through better mental healthcare. There's over 50,000 suicides in the US every year and the Democrats only care about the 25,000+ that are gun suicides. Most of those are elderly white males.

If Democrats really want to save lives, they should focus on mental health....which is the primary factor in most mass murders along with the majority of suicides. Obviously the Republicans don't give a shit about anything except how much it would cost them.
