No ones begging to be a slave. Public services need to be payed for and this would be a good way to pay for them.
my imposing a tax on a plant that grows naturally, can be grown, harvested, and possessed through ones own backyard or property, and you feel that the government can tax you on that? how is that NOT begging for slavery?

Like any back yard garden you will be able to grow it with out it being taxed,But as it is now its not legal for anyone to grow. Hows that not oppression?

you are trying to argue a bad position with me. my argument is how you feel the government can tax an item that anyone can grow in their backyard.

It'll take time before they loosen the reins more. WA and CO are experiments and have no idea what their doing yet....they're making new laws around pot as they go.

But eventually people will be able to grow their own personal amounts IMO. Just have about a million prehistoric fears and prejudices to overcome first.

But people will be able to grow their own. Just like any produce, or even wine or beer. People can make/grow personal amounts. And just like anything else, if they want to sell it, then they need business licenses.

still missing the point. what part of the US Constitution gives the federal government any authority or power over what a citizen grows, possesses, or uses on their own property?

SO you want to get rid of all taxation. Then how would we fund the government services we need and use? Or do you propose to do away with all government services and go back to when there were no government services? That would be ridiculous and insane.

I've always held that making pot illegal was unConstitutional.

That said, the govt does have the right to curtail ownership of things that it considers harmful to society. They are not likely to let you raise Africanized killer bees in your backyard either,, for example.

So it takes time to change cultures and perceptions. They wont be taxing pot you grow in your backyard, once they get things figured out. THere's just a huge paranoia about it now, alot of re-education needs to take place.

hyperbole much? should the government then be able to tax you for no lawn grass? maybe tax you for too many roses?
