All the things you suggest he "could" do are not a valid legal reason to use force. There has to be specific actions that can be shown to have occurred that can be articulated to be a threat of serious harm. Speculation about things he could do is not a valid reason.

I suggest you go read the actual court case instead of relying on wikipedia for your legal reasoning.

If he drove away and hit someone, or threatened police officers who were trying to get him to stop, that would be a different story.

He was a piece of trash. That doesn't mean incompetence should not go punished.

If we use the logic often used for prison sentences, then getting an incompetent cop off of the force is important here.

They were close friends growing up, and then Livingston's family moved away. He was back visiting, and there was a fight where Wright took an ass beating from Livingston.

He came back and shot him in the head.

The kid he shot didn't die. He's a vegetable. The girl who he strangled and attempted to rob was about to face him in court.
