Trump and Musk both love mega projects. They could displace a big chunk of the Gaza population to become cheap labor for this project. It benefits Egypt, gives the Palestinians displaced something productive to do, and removes them from the bad influences of groups like Hamas.

I like my greening a big chunk of the Sahara desert by refilling the Qattara Depression and others to the west of it with water. All you need is a pipeline or canal. Palestinians look perfectly capable of ditch digging and all they'd need are picks, shovels, and wheelbarrows...The idea isn't new.
