Prez TRUMP will build that Mex. WALL under budget, because this is what he does....

News Break:

At the 11:AM/ET hour, breaking radio news is that the Mexican leader that had a scheduled meeting w/ Trump now may not attend, over Trump's insistence that Mexico pay for the wall.
Looks like Trump has inspired a turd tornado, and ground hasn't even been broken yet.

"Normally, I wouldn't argue against any of that.
But Trump is not a republican [he's one in name only] neither is he a politician. He's a business man that has no idea how government works lol.
If he builds the wall under cost, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised." DO #29

For a while (long before he dropped his red baseball cap in the ring) I thought the Donald was a Democrat. I gather he has in the past donated substantially to the Clinton's for example.
And while in light of Romney, the next most recent GOP presidential nominee:

"Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. ... playing the members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House. And all we get is a lousy hat." Mitt Romney

& Speaker Ryan, 2nd in succession to the presidency:

"I'm not there yet."

& Majority Leader McConnell:

"I think it's time for him [Donald Trump ("R"-NY) Republican 2016 presidential candidate] to look like a serious candidate for president." Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY)

Trump obviously didn't have much support among GOP establishment; despite the grass-roots groundswell that swept him into office.

Either Trump voters are in for the surprise I believe they're in for,
or I'm in for a surprise they think I'm in for.

Check back with me in 4 years.

"We will have so much winning if I get elected, that you may get bored with winning." Republican leading presidential candidate Donald Trump - September, 2015

The materials alone will cost much more than that.

I think the OP meant $7 billion not $7 million. Congress already approved the wall back when Hussein the Obama was a Senator. In fact he voted for it.

With regards to Mexico paying for it, there's plenty of ways to make that happen. Deducting foreign aid is one. But also tariffs on American factories in Mexico being sold back to us is the obvious one that Trump has indicated. Then there's a border crossing tax.

"The estimates assume that Trump will insist on building the same type of wall regardless of geography. Like if its crossing a river instead of leaving it a natural barrier as trump has said they assume trump will pave over it or something and still build a contigious wall. Lol."

This may seem like irrelevant trivia to some.
But I gather the Rio Grande has served as the border for many decades.
So locating the wall in the Mexican side of the border would constitute an act of war. It's annexing real estate to which the U.S. has no legitimate sovereign claim.
Locating the wall on our shore of the Rio Grande would be ceding U.S. territory to Mexico.
Building the wall on the currently recognized border, which in some places may be in the water; introduces complicated hydrological and construction issues.

Anyone can rob a bank.
The great challenge is to do so in such a way that the spoils of the crime can be fully enjoyed in tranquil security in the certitude the law will not intercede & punish.

Trump may indeed exact his pound of flesh.
But the U.S. will pay a price for that. And in the 3rd millennium, the friendship is probably worth more than the $money.

No more business as usual. No fancy state dinners and star studded entertainment for Nieto, guess he's embarrassed over his indebtedness. Like DJT always said during his campaign, "If a deal doesn't look right, I'll walk." Walk on Donald!!!!! :)

The Libs are putting out all this bs of $14 billion to build that border wall, and I am here to tell you Libs that Prez Trump will probably build it for $7 million and ahead of schedule because building things is his thing. You Libs have lost at every turn and you will lose at this turn, you Libs will be Trumped again and again.
:palm:

Thus far the only ones committed to paying for it is us...

"Thus far the only ones committed to paying for it is us..." B #47

Understood.
But please speak for yourself.
I'm just as much a U.S. citizen as you are.
I'm just as much a U.S. citizen, and perhaps even more a tax payer than President Trump is.
There seem to be years where Trump paid no U.S. federal income tax where citizens like me did.

I don't mind the Donald spending $40 $Billion.

BUT !!

If he's going to spend $40 $Billion, I'd hope he'd spend it on something, anything more sensible than that!

We have more immediate priorities.

What is Mexico's budget for the wall?

Since we are lending them the money, what is the interest rate?

What are the terms? What about when they "default"?

Here is the deal.

Just like everything else Trump does, its a LIE. You bozo's know it or your are idiots.

He will build some small wall, some small fencing, much of the border will be-unwalled.

Trump will declare victory, the American Taxpayer will be stuck with the bill and the idiots will deny it.

Seeing what you've seen of Trump over the course of your life you honestly believe he's going to build a small wall?

It'll be huge and "TRUMP" will be on it every couple of hundred feet painted in gold flake.

I have more faith in Congress than that.

Mexico has a GDP of just over a Trillion dollars, the wall is projected to cost over 14 Billion.

Do the Math, Mexico CANT pay for the wall, even if they wanted to.

1,954 miles, ten and half billion dollars, in four years- ambitious, but doable. My concern would be a wall obstructing view in places like the Rio Grande. In addition, their exists a tribe who would need to cede permission to the US government. The last I heard they were against doing so. Not sure if the US has the ability to supersede tribal rights. I think they may as a matter of public safety- not sure if that's true.

Do you think Mexico can afford to pay for the wall, even if they wanted to?
