Definitely some really deep psychological stuff there that goes beyond my skill set. It's as old as time, though. I'm sure there is sexual jealousy in there, as well as an overall feeling of inadequacy which I think most guys have anyway.

I can't help but point out that when I expressed the very same views of this disgusting and degrading and BARBARIC practice, I was ridiculed for not expressing
the same level of displeasure with how our poor poor US women are mistreated, as if there was something as degrading as FGM to compare it to....
then I was soundly chastised for being an Islamaphobic, Muslim hater and bigot.....go figure.........really odd how and why things are perceived by some people.

You presented FGM as pervasive in Islam, and came from a strictly Islamophobic viewpoint on it.
Fact is, it's practiced by non-Muslims as well. And your other thoughts regarding Islam in general contributed to the reaction you received on that thread.

I heard of nowhere else in the world its practiced except there and some, but very few, remote tribes of Africa....maybe you have.
That alone makes them barbaric, and combined with chopping off limbs, stoning, lashing, beheading, etc., and the general enslavement of women and lack of what most people see as basic human rights in that culture, makes their barbarism undeniable to reasonable people.....

It's very common in some African countries - you really marginalize it w/ your uninformed statement above. How you can impugn a whole religion w/ that, or something like stoning - how many stonings have their been in the past year or so? - is beyond me.
To me, FGM is just a mysoginistic practice, that originates from the fear-based thoughts of a small group of men. What you're doing w/ Islam, I could easily do w/ men, and villify the entire gender because of the practice.
See how that works? Probably not. It's been my experience that there isn't much hope for bigots.

Heck you could easily vilify the entire male gender even without factoring in FGM.
African countries ?....could be...and it could be those African countries are populated by and large by Muslims, practicing their beliefs.
If you can show other facts, I'm open to those facts.
Stoning ?...look it up,...there are quite a few, and being as disgusting as it is, its not gonna be advertised for the world to see, at least not as much as beheadings,
which are public for men, women and children to witness....
As to why FGM is practiced?....thats irrelevant....its barbaric and no excuse will change that fact, so I have no interest in their rationalization for doing it.

where did I say that, let's say the father involved wants to keep, and raise the baby, what then? he played a part. The biggest problem in this country is single mothers, and deadbeat Dads. By the way it is partly the Fathers responsibility, and he should be made to support the child should the woman in question decides to keep it, if not since the parents also were not responsible they can help raise it
