Prop 312 passes in Arizona

I don't care what happens in the shithole states like Arizona.
I only care about the civilized ones.
Unfortunately, dystopia is in store for ALL of them.
I suspect that you will survive it.

I believe that most will benefit from Trump.

In 20 years, only ardent historians will know the name Kamala Harris.

In 30 years, most Americans will recognize Obama3 as the worst President in American History. And those alive in that time, will still be paying the Obama3 debts.

It seems to me there's more to the story than simply enforcing current laws. Usually it's a pandering government, which AZ doesn't strike me as being, or a lack of money.

AZ is free to fill their prisons with the homeless thus the taxpayers will be giving them three hots and a cot for months on end as they cycle in and out of the local lock up.

Here's something to consider: most chronically homeless are mentally ill. These people are not rational and won't simply go away. Run them off and they'll come back. Patrol the front sidewalk and they'll go behind the building.

Again, I don't see it as simply enforcing the laws. Which, BTW, is odd. When do Arizona police need permission to enforce the law?

Back when I was being RIF'd out of the Marine Corps and before the Navy processed my package, I was looking at civilian and other government helicopter jobs. Among my top five was the Arizona Highway Patrol for two main reasons; unlike other law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, they didn't require I be a ground officer for two years first. The second was, at the time, a recent incident with bank robbers. Most police helicopters aren't armed. The AZ HP helicopter quickly flew to where the robbers were reported fleeing on a highway. The robbers, being idiots, fired on the helicopter where upon the observer pulled out an M-16 and hosed them down. The car crashed and there were no survivors. My kind of police force. LOL
There has been a major problem here with homeless camps just like California. As in California there are "advocacy" groups on the radical Left that sue government for actions taken against the homeless. Government at various levels reacted by trying to ignore the problem or do nothing that would bring such lawsuits.

For example, one of the biggest reasons Prop 312 got on the ballot was something called "The Zone" in downtown Phoenix. Businesses and residents complained for months about this huge homeless encampment on the edge of downtown Phoenix. The police and city were sued repeatedly by the aforementioned groups over their actions.
In the end, businesses and residents in the area got the courts to act and forced the city and police to clean up the encampment.

The charge for Prop 312 was led by people who were most affected by The Zone in Phoenix.

Again, more money is going to be needed to both enforce the laws and keep them free of homeless.

When taxpayers can't get a cop to come help them with a break-in because they're all busy driving homeless nutjobs out of town, you'll see what I mean.

What about Trump's debts? Don't they count too?

Even a Texas housewife living in a trailer home knows she can't spend more than is being deposited in her checking account. Trump cut taxes and raised spending. I doubt that is going to change over the next four years.

Anyone who thinks this type of thing isn’t a problem hasn’t a clue. No more than I visit cities (I do everything I can to not go to a population of more than 5000) I can see this there. I’m curious what they’ll come up with as a solution.

Agreed it's a problem. Most chronically homeless are mentally ill. Rousting them and driving them out of town to be dumped in the desert won't solve the problem.

This is why all the Bleeding Hearts who give them a home and get them a job constantly fail. Without better mental health care, they'll simply walk away from their new home and job when the whimsies tell them.

Most Homeless Americans Are Battling Mental Illness

Two-thirds of homeless people are experiencing some form of mental health disorder, a large, new review of data on the subject.
The analysis found that men who are homeless are more likely to be battling mental illness than women, although rates were high for both genders compared to the general population.

There are signs that rates of mental illness may be on the rise among homeless populations, especially in the United States and Canada, said researchers led by Rebecca Barry, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Calgary in Canada.

"The most common mental disorders included substance use disorders, antisocial personality disorders, major depression and general mood disorders," Barry and colleagues reported April 17 in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.

Her team looked at thousands of published studies worldwide on homelessness and mental illness. They settled on 85 of the most rigorous studies.
Overall, more than 48,000 homeless individuals were included in those studies, which were largely based in affluent countries such as the United States, Canada and Germany.

The mental health of participants in the studies was assessed using standard psychiatric tests.

Barry's team found that, overall, 67% of homeless people currently have some form of mental illness, while 77% were found to have experienced mental illness at least sometime during their lives.

Rates of current mental illness were significantly higher among men (67%) than women (57%), as were lifetime rates of mental illness (86% for men, 69% for women).

These numbers are much higher than rates of mental illness seen in the general population, where the latest data suggests that 13% to 15% of people currently battle some form of psychiatric illness.

According to the new study, rates of bipolar disorder among homeless people were over eight times higher than that seen among people generally (8% vs 0.7%). Similarly high (or even higher) rates were seen for antisocial personality disorder, psychotic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depression, substance abuse and mood disorders.

The number of mentally ill people living on the streets or in shelters could also be rising, Barry's team added.

They noted a "higher prevalence of mental health disorders among people experiencing homelessness among studies published more recently."

That could reflect recent improvements in mental illness diagnoses among the homeless, of course.

Yep. It’s gotta be mental illness for most of them. Whether it’s genetic or brought on by drug abuse, no one in their right mind would keep living as they do. That’s why I wonder what they’re going to come up with to help the problem. Was it you that mentioned prison (probably facetiously) … but three hots and a cot isn’t a bad idea. I’d prefer it came by way of a sanatarium (mental institution) rather than a prison though. It would still mean confinement for them which probably wouldn’t fly. But wow, what kind of tax revenue would that require?

No, I’m watching this to see what happens. This is one of the big domestic problems of our time, IMO. Right there next to our border problem. I don’t pretend to have the answers.

It sounds to me that they'll just be locking them up if they won't stay away. Our prisons have a higher percentage of mentally ill people too.

Yes, it was me on the "three hots and a cot". Another reason AZ will have to raise taxes: more prisons, more prison guards, more food and beds.

I'm in the camp with better mental healthcare. Treat them, put them to work paying taxes instead of costing taxes.

Key Statistics:
  • Percent of people in state prisons who have been diagnosed with a mental disorder: 43% +
  • In locally-run jails: 44% +
  • Percent of people in state prisons with chronic mental illness who have not had treatment since admission: 33%
  • Percent of people in federal prisons who reported not receiving any mental health care while incarcerated: 66% +
  • Percent of police shootings in 2015 that involved a mental health crisis: 27% +
  • Portion of people jailed 3+ times within a year who report having a moderate or serious mental illness: 27% +
  • Lasting effects of incarceration: post-traumatic stress, anxiety, impaired decision-making, and more +

There are no solutions to be found, Rev.
Our nation has chosen fascism of its own volition.
There is nobody existent to liberate us from it.

What am I supposed to do about it at my age?

All I can do is finish out my hopefully short remaining time
content in the knowledge that I've always been better than this,
I'm morally and intellectually better than everybody who let this happen,
none of this is my fault,
and at the very least, what's left of my life
will be a defiant middle finger to all of you conservatives who allowed this to happen.

To paraphrase Blood, Sweat, and Tears,
I know there is no heaven
but I hope there is a hell for all responsible for this.

You all certainly deserve it.

Trump has broken you, old man.

You should have matriculated.

You could have been a contender.

That's not how it goes dipshit.

I swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell

Didn't you get a cyanide pill lined up for this occasion?

Or is your bitter old life actually unchanged from any of this?

Now the Lefties see themselves as justified and given the authority to dish out Punishment.

What could be a better indication that they should NOT be trusted with any form of Authority?

We dodged a very evil era, in rejecting Harris and her supporters.

I give my thanks to the Gods for their mercy.

Boy, and I though Evince was insane. At least she has an excuse being drug addled all the time...
