Property taxes make you property of the Government?

Ooops. You just illustrated how taxes work. If you don't like the term 'tax', then just call it a 'vagina'. Does that make you feel better? Paying a vagina every year in lieu of taxes?

Looks like you have the comprehension issues.

Got any other strawmen?

It isn't a tax if you have the option to pay it or not. Taxes are not optional.

tax
[taks]
NOUN
a compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers' income and business profits, or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions.

Taxes are compulsory, pay them or else. A subscription fee is optional. You can pay it or not and nothing happens.

They usually pay up after they file to run for some office and the newspaper publishes their name as not having paid their taxes (usually on property that is not their home).
I'm just curious about the policy? Not everyone runs for office. They publish delinquents in the papers here to. But the tax auctions seem to be a better way to encourage people to pay up.

Unless your house burns down.

Everyone must pay their vagina, or the county cannot perform necessary services.

I own products I buy although I pay a sales tax on them. I own the income I make although I pay an income tax. I own my home although I pay a property tax. I am the full property owner because I can sell my house at market value.

what happens to your property if you don't pay the government every year to keep owning that property?

Unless your house burns down.

Everyone must pay their vagina, or the county cannot perform necessary services.

And that was the point of the story. The fire department arrived, determined the owner hadn't paid subscription fees so they didn't put the fire out. They let the house burn to the ground. I suppose the alternative would have been to put the fire out and give the owner a whopping big bill for services rendered, much larger than the subscription fee, but either way subscription is an alternative.

Police could work the same way, and did in the early days of modern police in London for example. Those that subscribed to fund the police got a placard to affix to their home or business showing they paid the fee and police were expected to protect that location on their patrols. Otherwise, they weren't going to do much if you got robbed. Think of it like a private security service with actual police powers to arrest suspects etc.

These services have alternatives to being tax based.

when you are making a monthly mortgage payment, the bank is the actual owner of your property, not you. try to be less ignorant and less obtuse..............if you think you can

And, once you pay the mortgage off, the property is yours just like with say a vehicle. You don't have to continue to pay forever after. Property tax has no end to it.

Once again, you prove that you are the dumbest member of the board.

Did you mean property 'vagina'?

Vagina has 'no end to it' because every county's responsibilities have no end to them.

Pretty simple concept.

Why aren't you complaining about the fact that you pay about triple the value of your property in interest?

We've already determined that it's not a subscription. You seem to be more at ease if we call it a vagina.

So you've reduced yourself to semantics.

Does it make you feel better if they call it a property subscription?

If you don't continue to pay insurance on the car, you don't get to drive it. Why own a car if you can't drive it?

Because you like the car and collect them? The government can't come and take your car if you don't pay to register or insure it. But they can come, and will, and take your house if you don't pay your property tax.

Wrong. It is you that doesn't get it. A subscription is a choice you have to pay or not. A tax is compulsory and there are legal and serious consequences if you don't pay it. In the case of property tax, your home gets taken by the government in lieu of paying the taxes. That is, in essence, you get evicted like any other renter.

Good point. Don't pay rent, get evicted. You seem to understand that concept. Home ownership isn't for everyone. If you can't pay the taxes, then you are a renter.

Or homeless.

A subscription is not a choice. Don't pay it, and you don't get the service. If you don't buy a house, then you don't have to pay the subscription that funds the govt..

given the absolute absurdity you displayed concerning the evidence and testimony presented at the rittenhouse trial, I'd say you are the holder of that spot
Just because you didn't understand the testimony, doesn't mean that it was what you claimed it was.

We grade you on a curve, though.

How are we full property owners if we pay property tax!?

BTW. Property tax is added to the cost of rents too.

Feeling the bite this year are ya? Yeah, you gotta pay the government rent to own your own stuff. It's much too high, too.

Especially on rental properties, the government now gets 2/3 more than the property owner per year. That's criminal. It also raises the price of housing for everyone.

If people want lower housing costs, they're going to have to get onto their local politicians about it everywhere.
