Psychologists repudiate gay-to-straight therapy

LOL Facts. From you. Sure. LOL.

Here is a fact for you, the man who founded NARTH is Dr. Charles Socarides.

"In his writings, public appearances and private practice, Dr. Socarides argued that homosexuality was a "neurotic adaptation" that in men stemmed from absent fathers and overly doting mothers." (and that theory has been debunked too many times to count)

From: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/28/nyregion/28socarides.html

And oddly enough, one of Dr. Socarides' children is openly gay. You would think he would have been able to "cure" his own child.

To be fair to SM there is ONE study in that entire group that showed that among 200 patients the therapy showed signs of success. It was a survey done by a very pro gay researcher who felt it his duty to report those findings. I haven't looked extensively but I have yet to find a study that replicates these findings. I was going to talk to my father who has been a Psychologist since 1974, with a Ph. D. in Psychology and a post doctorate in Neuropsychology. He has been recognized as an expert in courts in more than 20 states and is a member of the governors board of examiners. I am going to ask him if he knows of any studies that validate that one or that are contrary to that one.

There's lots of theories on why folks turn gay. Why did you?

What a well researched argument.

Now, would you care to make any guesses as to why this "brilliant" scholar, who claims homosexuality can be cured, had one of his own children turn out gay?

Wow, this hasn't already happened?

The rest of have already known this for quite sometime. Knuckledragging christofacists are going to need it spelled out over and over again for the next 50 years before the light bulb goes off.

To test your assertion I clicked on one of the articles at random and found this:
Although examples of "complete" change in orientation were not common, the majority of participants did report change from a predominantly or exclusively homosexual orientation before therapy to a predominantly or exclusively heterosexual orientation in the past year as a result of reparative therapy.

From dozens of studies, you are likely to get one outlier, just like one poll out of dozens is likely to show an unlikely result.

But my question to you is, why did you turn gay?

Since I am heterosexual, I didn't answer the question.

But whenever you get around to addressing the issue of this "brilliant" researcher being unable to prevent his own child from being gay, just let me know.

Your wife looks like an 18 year old boy- you're gay.

Since you have never seen my wife, I will take this as more dodging the topic at hand.

Let me know when you would like to defend your opinions. And let me know when you would like to continue the debate on topic.

Besides, since you wrote some disgusting sexually oriented stories about my family you aren't worthy of anything other than ridicule.

I think, since you did try and offer arguments, but failed, these insults are your way of avoiding a real debate.

:cof1:

But its good to know how I can effectively take you out of an argument.

You're not capable of think, just poking your member up you man-wife's ass.

Would that be "thinking"?

I am quite capable. I have obviously shot down your argument in this thread.

Since you are so fond of quoting Logical Fallacies, would you like to define "Argumentum ad hominem"?

We're playing by your rules now. You insult my family in a disgusting sexual manner....

Payback's a bitch, shit stabber.

Oh, is it my rules now? lol

Well, since you say that........

But all you have to do is come up with a good reason that Dr Socarides' research would be considered valid. The rest of the APA doesn't think so. His own gay child doesn't think so.

But unless you come up with a valid argument, you will be seen as having failed in this thread.

The hostility is nothing new for you, and it hasn't done me any harm. It just clutters the scenery here.
