BECAUSE AMERICA'S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IS FUCKED SIX WAYS TO SUNDAY.

Mental health care is BARELY covered and only because they are FORCED to. No doubt her parents were probably fighting insurance companies just to get the help she needed.

Actually, most gun deaths are suicides (54%). Taking away firearms won't prevent any suicides, it just means those wanting to die will use another method.

For hunters and sportsmen in shooting sports, guns are a necessary part of their lives. I'd also say guns are useful for self-defense.

In most government run healthcare systems around the world mental health isn't covered. Neither is dental or eye care. So?

No, because the vast majority of people owing and using firearms do so responsibly. Only the mentally insane and criminals are misusing them. The insane won't care about the tax, and the criminals won't be paying it.
