Question?

Sure. The moment he put himself into the arena, he 'injected' Mormonism into politics.

There's your one example. :)

So you have no evidence to support your assertion that Romney has injected his "crazy beliefs" into the election. Thanks for playing.

Here's a question for you: did Barack Obama inject Reverend Wright's "crazy beliefs" into the 2008 election simply by "putting himself into the arena"?

that's racist of you to bring up Obama

Sure I have evidence. Mormonism is one of the more extreme Christian religions. You have to be a step and a half off or have been indoctrinated as a child in order to embrace and practice it as a functional adult. Romney is, for all intents and purposes, functional. Yet he ascribes to nuttery. And he's chosen to run for president. If that isn't enough evidence for you then you must be a Mormon yourself and thus unable to recognize the nuttery. Or you're willing to (like most Republicans) overlook it in the spirit of partisanship. Either way, I've provided all the 'evidence' that a reasonable person needs. If it doesn't suffice for you, well...tough shit.

As for Reverend Wright's 'crazy beliefs' being injected into the 2008 election - that would've been true if Obama embraced them and defended Wright, but instead, Obama threw Wright and his 'crazy beliefs' under a bus.

Would you say the same about Harry Reid, who is also a member of the LDS Church?

All religions, in my view, are nutty. However, I do not view Romney's faith as any more "extreme" than another. He has even demonstrated an ability to distance himself from some LDS positions. He was pro-choice during the 90s, for instance.

Ah...convenient copout. Romney's religion = nutty, Obama's = OK. The only problem with your hypocritical assertion is that Obama did defend Reverend Wright.

Of course I would. However, as I've already stated, I don't give a shit what religion someone wants to practice and believe in. It's fine, as long as they don't hurt anyone with it. I've found many Mormons to be loveable people. I don't want them running the country, though.

I'm with you regarding all religions being nutty, but I do believe some are nuttier than others. LDS and Scientology clip the 'nutty' meter. Islam is ridiculously sexist. Catholicism is rotten at the top and covers up its child molesters. There are degrees to nuttery, but they are all in the same big basket and I want no part of any of them.

Yeah, it's a cop-out. So sue me. I see LDS as nuttier than other forms of Christianity. Lots of Christians running around who don't have time for Church and don't practice the daily whacky bullshit that Romney does.

And as for his defense of Wright, wow, I stand corrected. Was that before or after he threw Wright under the bus?

Thank you...we are in agreement for the most part, although personally, I consider Romney (even with his Mormon beliefs) a better option than Obama.

And I believe it was before...

I figured as much....he realized that defending nuttery was bad for his campaign.

Romney's faith is only one aspect of what deems him an unacceptable choice in my view. But you already knew that. ;)

Thanks for the back-and-forth.

His 'crazy beliefs' were 'injected' into politics the moment he put HIMSELF into the arena. Every time his faith is mentioned, by him or his minions, and he doesn't denounce it, he is 'supporting' those beliefs. Hope that helps. :)

So Obama has to denounce all beliefs that he doesn't agree with, or it means he's supporting them? :palm:

What "proof" do you have that will support your annoncement of "You have to be a step and a half off or have been indoctrinated as a child in order to embrace and practice it as a functional adult."?

So now it appears that your saying Obama is a windsock and will make his comments, depending on which way the public opinion is blowing.
Just who we need to run the country, a liar.

I've known of people to convert to Jehovah's Witnesses in adult life, so the argument that Mormonism is too extreme/crazy to attract converts is obviously wrong...

Do you know the type of people attracted to "The Truth" (what JWs call their religion) as adults? Your statement is proof of nothing.
