Radio Laura quits!

if so where's the problem?
PRIMARY? My primary concern is taking care of myself, as a result, everyone around me benefits! My husband is capable of taking care of himself, and we take care of each other, but each of us is responsible for our own care and happiness.

She told women that if they were in a bad relationship they HAD to make it better, the only reason to leave was because you were physically abused or he cheated on you. If there was no relationship there too bad, stick it out, for the good of the children. What gives a person with a Ph.D is Physiology the ability to give emotional and psychological advise. She had no formal training in psychology or psychiatry. She is a charlatan.
She could be verbally abusive at times.

This commerical cracks me up every time I see it, but it's kind of like the Dr. Laura method of dispensing advice to her callers.

That woman is a bitch on wheels, but there is an element of truth in her words and belief that speaks to the demise of the family and the fall out we see with kids not getting the parental guidance and structure they once got with stay at home parents.

She drives me up a blue streak and her sanctimonious 'tude makes me bristle, but there is some truth in what she says.
I never had a problem with Dr. Laura. It's a free country and she obviously has an audience. She's crossed the line on more then one occasion, particularly with her reactinary views on gays, though again, she's entitled to her opinion. Her problem is that when she takes an unpopular moral stance she hasnt' been able to take the heat. To which I say, tough shit.

I am the king of my household!!! Dammit women.... get me some dinner and a beer!

And I wonder why I'm not married at age 37.

She didn't stay at home and raise her child, that is what always got me! I agree with loyal, she is/was a bitch and there may have been some truth in some of the things she said, but her delivery turned me off.

I only heard her show a couple of times so I can't say I had strong feelings about her one way or the other. I do remember one call where she went off on some woman and her husband for neglecting their kids and thought more parents need to be told that.

Exactly! The going got tough and she got going. She loses all credibility when she turns tail and runs. Frankly I had to dig really deep to get past her abrasiveness.

Every once in a while I turn to her on our local radio station and within minutes I have to turn her off. There's no need to be a sanctimonious bitch all the time, and quite frankly it is just so tedious and predictable now-a-days.

I don't even bother turning the radio on any more. I either pop in a CD or Book or listen to blessed silence. Anymore on radio you have all the stations owned by 2 corporations who have written in stone play lists that you've heard over and over and over again ad nuaseum inside of a week or you have some wingnut political pundit shrilly trying to sell you a bill of goods or some idiot Jock and I can only take so much of NPR.....so I just turned the damned thing off. I was considering getting Sirius but I don't drive much any more.

She was giving "moral advice" not emotional advice. She often advised them to go to psychological counseling for emotional advice.

or drugs. she said an addiction that the person wouldn't face is grounds to leave.

she was harsh. but i liked her basically. hypocritical? yes. But that's the human condition.

No one really uses the honorific "Dr." if they're a PH.d. but not a doctor. Or at least I've never seen anyone do it but right wing political activists.
Not even close. Every college professor that I know of uses it. And that is quite a few considering my in-laws are pretty much all professors.

My old man has his PhD and was a professor and he still gets mail address to Dr. Cawacko.

That explains why you can't bring yourself to say shit thing one to protest internationalist fascism and the destruction of the american people. You're beaten down by your ivory tower elitist in-laws.

She ridiculed women for working when they had children, although she herself did it! I found her to be very hypocritical. Do what I say, not as I do type chick!

And she's not even a blond!
