Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will seek campaign donations from big donors for President Obama, according to a report Wednesday in The Washington Post.


Emanuel will drop his honorific chairmanship of the Obama campaign to focus on raising money from big-dollar donors, the report said.


Obama’s campaign has trailed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in fundraising for the last several months and has been worried all year about how super-PACs aligned with the GOP could outspend the president and his allies.

Mayor Emanuel decided to brush off a skyrocketing murder rate, not to mention a looming teachers strike, to go help bail out his failed boss. It’s quite obvious he doesn’t care about the welfare of the children. A shame Obama’s adoring media would never dare to ask him why his community is such a mess.

Request federal aid, request local aid, authorize overtime for cops, increase police recruitment, coordinate with federal agencies about the source of guns and drugs.

Five thoughts off the top of my head. This guy theoretically has an entire staff. What he shouldn't be doing is what he apparently is doing... "Nothing"

Between January 2009 and November 2011, the City of Chicago paid $45.5 million for damages in 441 lawsuits involving claims of police misconduct. maybe if he'd get rid of the crooked cops instead of spending millions defending them, things could improve and you'd have more overtime.

Don't know for a fact, but pretty sure in a number of cases the city is obligated, by union and contractual agreements, to cover certain lawsuits. I did list asking for aid there too, it was a list of five things that took thirty seconds to come up with. My point remains that the mayor appears to be just shaking his head and saying, "Well, criminals will be criminals."

Any solution is better than no solution.
 
Maybe crime wouldn't be up if the Republicans weren't busily trying to eradicate the middle class?

Just a thought.

Yes in a sort of way. You see the current gun laws across america allow easier access to criminals than law abiding citizens. The duty to retreat , the suspicion of one whom enacts self defense, no carry without a concealed licence , and the knowledge that many just wont have a form of self defense. In Arizona a state known for their open carry law, crime has dropped 43% compared to the national 30% drop since 1995. In addition just since 2002 there has been a 32% drop. That's almost double the national amount as a whole since 2002. Many criminals when asked why they chose non violent crimes with an increased chance to get apprehended said. "Because you don't know if the guy you are going to try to hold up is going to have his own gun as well. So yes actually it is possible that lack of guns is Chicago's problem.

So you agree the reason Chicago has so many shootings is that there aren't enough guns?
 
http://azsentencing.org/ There is the link to a goverment site that quotes the stats of from 2002. I had used the statistics I get in a newsletter but trust implicitly. No I do not agree with that terminology. I beleive there are so many shootings because as a criminal you can be fairly certain the law abiding citizen you are about to get violent with can not shoot you back.

Really? What percentage of Chicago shootings involve an armed criminal and an unarmed victim, exactly?
