Raising Taxes On The Rich Would Reduce Income Inequality

Stupid pills kicking in again....??? Most folks call it 'take home pay'.....what do you call it ?

Gross income is 'gross income'....your total earnings....rich or poor, taxes are irrelevant....no ones gross income changes because of taxes....

now... if you could find one single post where I EVER said that they did, that would be fabulous!

Then you should have no problem with the rich and corporations. Case closed. I win.

Thank you for your concession.

No problem? I have no problem with anyone paying as little tax as they are required to pay. I reserve the right to fight to raise the marginal tax rates on those who I feel could stand to pay just a bit more than they are now.

I concede nothing. Tax rates are fluid. Sometimes they go down, and sometimes they go up. I make no secret of the fact that I want to see them go up right about now.

Oh, but of COURSE the(democrat)government is going to require you to pay more taxes!! According to them, the ONLY solution to ANY problem is to throw money at it. By the way, did you ever stop to think that there is nothing preventing you from sending your excess income to Uncle Sugar over and above what you pay in taxes? Anytime the spirit moves you, just write a check to "THE U.S. TREASURY". They'll cash it and you won't even get a thank you.

If my taxes go up, I will pay the increased amount willingly and gladly.

It is hilarious how libbies never want to walk their talk

I walk my talk all the time. I pay every penny of taxes required of me... I urge my senators to raise marginal tax rates... I tithe at my church, and beyond that, my wife's and my charitable trust gives even more toward efforts to feed the hungry in Maine.

and by the way... did you bother to read post #52 that my #56 was in response to? Go after that moron, not me.... you fucking douchebag.

Dantes im all for capitalism, im not for this new unbridled greed by americas richest and corporations. There was a time not to long ago that The rich and corporations gladly shared some with the people that worked to make them rich. They gave them enough to live and gave them enough security to feel safe. THEN CAME MY GENERATION OF GREEDY P's OS the babyboomers.
When they came of age and started to take over beginning somewhere around 1978 the greed proliferated. Their attitude is pay them less then we keep more, pay them less raise the bottom line on them we get bigger bonus.

I am not jealous, I have more than enough and I live a better than average lifestyle. Having said that when just 6 humans have more than the entire bottom 44% of all americans that is sickeningly out of whack.

The top 2% is still only 2% but they OWN far more than they did 20 yrs ago. There is no denying that the middleclass has shrunk considerably the number of poor has risen dramatically and weve never had this many unemployed for so long.

The robbed all americans of their home equities by creating and causeing the housing crash. American middleclass is on its knees.
When the middleclass is totally destroyed then the corporations can stick all the chinese shit they make in their ass, there will be no one to buy it.

The rich and corporations never "gladly shared" or "gave" anybody anything. People died by the thousands from the Paris Commune of 1871 to the streets of Chicago, St. Louis, and elsewhere all over this country trying to squeeze even subsistence out of capitalists who would do anything to keep from paying what they paid last year let alone any increase in wages. Some of the most vigorous struggles between capital and labor occurred when capital insisted on reducing waged by 10 percent two years in a row.

Carnegie was making $40 MILLION a year in profit in his steel mills when he and his manager a Mr. Frick decided that even $40 MILLION a year in profit wasn't enough and so they reduced wages by 10% and brought in scans and broke the union and those who couldn't live on the new wages quickly reduced another 10%. But not to worry during the whole ordeal including the fortifying of the Carnegie steel works, the bringing in of paid Pinkertons and the killing of 9 steelworkers, Andrew Carnegie was safely ensconced in his castle in Scotland where the work never ended and where he daily put in at least 16-20 hours. Sure some of that time was spent shooting golf, ok. most of it was spent doing that, but he cleaned all he killed.

So if you want to see them go up, is it reasonable to say you don't think you pay enough taxes ?

YOU ARE willing to pay more taxes if the government requires that of you.....

Of course you are....everyone is, otherwise you'll go to jail.....whats the point ?..

So if you want to see them go up, is it reasonable to say you don't think you pay enough taxes ?

It is reasonable to say that I think the government should ask more from people in the upper income brackets, and I contribute money to the democratic party to help them do just that.

Then the next question is obvious....does that "upper income bracket" include you ?

So lets get personal.....YOU think the gov. should ask more of YOU.....is it reasonable to say you don't think you pay enough taxes ?

Yes or no will do....its a simple question....

aren't there two questions here?

My answer to both is yes.

Then callinecties question deserves an honest answer...

If YOU feel YOU don't pay enough, why don't you include a little more in your tax payment.....don't worry about others, we're talking about YOU....or are just
the typical liberal hypocrite.....paying as little as the law allows, just like the rest of us....

I refer you to post #55.

The diffference between you and me - beyond my obvious advantage in education and intelligence - is that I continue to contribute to candidates whom I KNOW will vote to raise my taxes... and, again unlike you, I will gladly pay every additional penny my tax accountant tells me I need to pay if and when my party ever gets the necessary votes in Congress to raise the marginal tax rate.

What is it with liberals and their tax worship?

Let me put it this way......The phrase that people like you like to use on a daily basis ironically best describes YOU. "Everyone wants something for nothing" The Left doesn't worship taxation lol, that's just idiotic. The left just accepts that taxation is the American way and recognize this. The right seems to think we should have it all but not pay anything for it...

Advanced politics is when you accept taxation and you start accounting for expense, necessity, and payback. The Right today is voting down bills that would pay themselves off and earn us more.

But that is what happens when you get Tea Baggers (Koch brothers) and Libertarians (Grover Norquist) controlling the Republicans. Republicans use to have a brain. :(

Capping the earnings of the likes of Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates would do little to actually boost the poor and middle class, Summers, a former economic advisor to President Obama and the treasury secretary from 1999 to 2001, argued in a Washington Post op-ed Sunday. But closing tax loopholes that largely benefit the wealthy -- like the capital gains exemption, certain estate tax provisions and corporate tax breaks -- could help middle-class and poor Americans, he wrote.

“Today’s tax code allows a far larger share of the income of the rich to escape taxation than the poor or middle class,” Summers wrote. “Closing loopholes that only the wealthy can enjoy would enable targeted tax measures such as the earned-income tax credit to raise the incomes of the poor and middle class more than dollar for dollar by incentivizing working and saving,” he continued.

Still, some studies have backed up Summers' idea that reforming the tax code could make a dent in income inequality. According to a 2013 study from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, when you consider things like sales and state and local taxes, the poor fork over a larger share of their income to Uncle Sam than their richer counterparts.

I don't agree with capping earnings. Never met anyone who does. But I also don't agree with raising taxes on the rich.

I believe our system will run well once the broken parts are fixed. No more hiding money oversea's to prevent taxation. Tax deductions to corporations that INSOURCE and stop tax deductions for corporations that OUTSOURCE (voted down by Republicans already). The law needs to take it more seriously when someone tries to start a union and they are fired for "slacking" the day after word got out they were trying to start a union. I think Corporations should be forced to give union paperwork to their people and if no one wants to join, so be it, if they do, they have to allow it. But NO ONE should be forced to join a union.

The problem is the rich aren't sharing the profits with the team that helped them get that money. Spitting on the workers that help you get rich is about to backfire in America. You can quote me on that one.

I acknowledge that we need more government revenue in addition to spending restraint. I hardly "worship" taxes, however. I have but one triune God that I worship.
