Raising Taxes On The Rich Would Reduce Income Inequality

You can cut out the bullshit, pal. You know high taxation is key to your side of the spectrum. Be a man and acknowledge your reverence for the IRS.

Fox News has ruined your brain kiddo. You should take a few nights and learn what the Left stands for. Repeating what Fox News says it is makes you look uneducated as HELL. Watch some Jon Stewart and some Steven Colbert. You will learn AND be entertained. They get their news from the only reputable news source left, PBS.

I acknowledge that we need more government revenue in addition to spending restraint. I hardly "worship" taxes, however. I have but one triune God that I worship.

I think it was your statement earlier. "Raise taxes, I don't care. I'll be happy to pay them" that he is wrapped up in.

I was disturbed too because I've seen Federal Taxation go to robotic squirrels and video games (still happening).

But I'm sure you just meant you are happy to pay for what the people need. In the mean time, we need to end expenses on what people don't need. We could save billions.

A few months back I was playing Disc Golf with a Libertarian that ran in state. He was extremely stoned and stated, "End all taxes man". The irony is he was playing a sport that is free because of taxation...

I refer you to post #55.

The diffference between you and me - beyond my obvious advantage in education and intelligence - is that I continue to contribute to candidates whom I KNOW will vote to raise my taxes... and, again unlike you, I will gladly pay every additional penny my tax accountant tells me I need to pay if and when my party ever gets the necessary votes in Congress to raise the marginal tax rate.

So then you're no different than everyone else.....as you, we don't a freakin' penny more than we HAVE to.....
the fact or fiction that you contribute to the political assholes you identify with is irrelevant....I personally contribute to vets charities....also irrelevant.

I also don't give a shit what others pay, including businesses....
and I too will pay every additional penny the gov. DEMANDS of me....because its the law....but to believe you don't pay enough and don't take any positive steps
to pay what you think you should is still being a hypocrite.....

We already know how you feel about the Democrat Party....

Get real AP....mm don't give a rats ass how his party wastes taxpayers money or how many dollars Obama pisses away on parties or vacation expenses that the
taxpayer has to contribute to.....he'll bend over and take whatever his party thinks is best with a smile on his face ..... incapable of independent consideration
of ideas contrary to what they believe is best for him.......

if only the competition had such blind faith and cohesion in their party....but then, we are not the party of
lemmings and sheeple.

. The very learned justice Learned Hand disagrees with you, as do I.

And... As I said... I do take positive steps. I contribute to the party that wants to raise my taxes.... And, in all my communication with my elected representatives, I urge them to do so.

You are the exact kind of ANGER Fox News wants. Anger over facts is the substance.

Ever look at how many vacations Bush took? Obama isn't even close.

Fox News driven small minds only have HATE and FEAR. Sound familiar brainwashed kid? Drink the TEA already.

If Bill Gates earned $20 billion it is dividends from his holdings, which are taxes at a different rate than salaries. They are taxed as capital gains.

I read somewhere that Warren Buffet collects a salary of about $1 million from Berkshire. The rest of his income is dividends.

Back to dividends: For a coporation to pay a shareholder a $1 dividend, the corporation has to clear a little over $1.50 profit. The $1.50 is then taxed down to $1.00, which is issued to the shareholder, to be taxed again. Liberals like a 35% capital gains figure.... which would mean what?

Basically it would mean that roughly 85 cents of every $1.50 corporate profit would go to the government. That's more than 50%.

Dividends are taxed as salary or ordinary income, capital gains are not.

No problem? I have no problem with anyone paying as little tax as they are required to pay. I reserve the right to fight to raise the marginal tax rates on those who I feel could stand to pay just a bit more than they are now.

I concede nothing. Tax rates are fluid. Sometimes they go down, and sometimes they go up. I make no secret of the fact that I want to see them go up right about now.

Stop lying

I don't agree with capping earnings. Never met anyone who does. But I also don't agree with raising taxes on the rich.

I believe our system will run well once the broken parts are fixed. No more hiding money oversea's to prevent taxation. Tax deductions to corporations that INSOURCE and stop tax deductions for corporations that OUTSOURCE (voted down by Republicans already). The law needs to take it more seriously when someone tries to start a union and they are fired for "slacking" the day after word got out they were trying to start a union. I think Corporations should be forced to give union paperwork to their people and if no one wants to join, so be it, if they do, they have to allow it. But NO ONE should be forced to join a union.

The problem is the rich aren't sharing the profits with the team that helped them get that money. Spitting on the workers that help you get rich is about to backfire in America. You can quote me on that one.

I'm with the Dude on this one! You should have at least read this for internal contradictions, if nothing else, before posting it!

is it beyond the ability of liberals to think that they can affect the bottom line of the wealthy by refusing to buy the products that their companies make??????

That was a good tactic back in say 1830 when a man (few women owned anything back then) owned a business and made something which you could boycott. Finance capitalism is a completely different animal. And the rich and wealthy are so diversified that boycotting Jif Peanut Butter or Cheeze-its Crackers isn't going to do shit. I boycott plenty of stuff and I haven't heard of anyone going broke yet. Hell boycotting all of Rush Limbaugh's advertisers could not even get him removed from the airwaves. For someone who claims they are "smarterthanyou;" you aren't!

seeing as how we've continually increased the regulations and regulatory oversight on capitalism only to see the divide between the wealthy and poor grow, it would seem that regulating capitalism has failed utterly.

See the definition for "multiply determined" results! Your making an assumption that the results we are seeing today are completely based on regulations. They are not! And the regulations are not enforced and most of what get palmed off as regulations were actually instituted as a result of industry demands. In other words you are talking out your ass. Perhaps if you read a book once in awhile or even learned who is paying all those thousands of lobbyists in Washington D.C. and the various state capitals to draft and pass legislation you would not continue to write this sort of bullshit. But since you are not too smart you continue to write it!
