Rays Take 4 in Boston

Its baseball... no real sports fan cares about baseball
Sorry if your attention span is that of a gnat, but baseball is a GREAT game. Far more strategy needed than in football where is nothing but run down field and see if you can beat that guy in a foot race before his teammates get around ours and tackle the shit out of our quarterback. Baseball you work your pitching, you substitute batters when new pitchers come in. Baseball is the greatest american sport ever

LOL.... please. Baseball is the only sport where 3/10 is considered 'good'.

I will let you in on a secret... in football and basketball, coaches make calls on substitutions depending on what their opponents are doing as well. Quarterbacks have to read a defense the way a pitcher preps for a batter... except the QB has to worry about 11 defenders at once.... and the pitcher doesn't have 300 pounders chasing him while he is trying to pitch.

Football is unquestionably the greatest sport ever created... ANYWHERE.

College Basketball is without question... in second behind football

Then comes Hockey

Then Soccer

Then Badminton

Then figure skating

Then curling

Then synchronized swimming

then underwater basket weaving

then baseball

then NASCAR

Hitting a baseball thrown at 90+mph is the single hardest thing to do in any professional sport. Period. THere are very few football players with as much talent as Albert Pujols. It is also very difficult to throw a ball from the pitcher's mound to home plate in such a way as to hit the strike zone, let alone control curveballs, sliders, sinkers and knuckleballs.

LOLZ, the Mariners just need to discover this 21st Century baseball fad called steroids, and then they'll perform better, like the Yanks.
Steroids don't make you play better, they just help your muscles recover quicker. You might as well wish for a magic pill given to you by a white rabbit or Lawrence Fishburn to make that miracle come true.

Okay, explain this to me. From 1979 to 1996, the Yanks did not appear in a single world series. Then the juicers start hitting town, and they start winning again. Unfortunately for them, in the last decade, the D-Bags, Angels, and Red Sox turned out in full force, which slowed them a bit...

True true, but in that time period we had more wins than any other team in MLB. We did have good offensive players but just could never put together a winning team. I believe the success starting in 96 comes from the Yankees improving their farm system. (The only successful thing Showalter did in that time frame) Jeter, Williams, Posada, Pettitte and Rivera are ALL farm system players. We actually started showing our potential in 94 and if not for the strike might have won that season. All the way through 2003 the Yankees were a power house even if we didn't win a series after 2000. Just shows how remarkable parity is in baseball compared to football. (Another area in which Baseball is a better game than Football Super Freak.)

As a side not on Steroids, did anyone see today that Edinson Volquez, a Pitcher from the reds was suspened for 50 games for testing postive for PES? Pitchers are the most likely players in all of baseball to use PES's because it helps them recover faster.

No... it really isnt. The single hardest thing to do is getting up after a 300 pounder levels you.

Again... baseball is dead. You can accept it... or simply continue to bask in the glory of the steroid induced morons who can't even break a mere 40% success rate at the plate.

also... please no more of the difficulties in a pitcher throwing the ball to a particular location. It is laughable. Try throwing the ball 35 yards in the air and hitting a moving target in stride, while making sure the defenders aren't able to snag it. Sorry, but baseball doesn't even begin to compare. Check the ratings.... FOOTBALL is the number one sport in this country. Hands down. Not even close.

Parity in BASEBALL???? ROFLMAO.... you have got to be kidding.

It is the same teams in the playoffs almost every year. Half the major league teams are simply farm teams for those with money. There is very little parity in baseball... especially compared to the NFL.

Actually, I'm thinking that the Blue Jays got screwed out of winning 3 in a row in 1994, but its true that the Yankees came close in 1995. You can thank Seattle for that botched attempt. :)

Actually, I know this will draw scorn, but I've said this before and will continue to say it, but the most difficult sport to play is golf. You can knock it as a gay, slow-moving club activity for senior citizens, but the odds are you don't play it well at all...
