Real 3rd Party Scare.

Taichiliberal

Shaken, not stirred!
I've been saying this since the Republicans and the Democrats conspired to keep Ralph Nader from the final Presidential Debates years ago. Remember folks, the 2 Party system needs to CHANGE .... and the Democrats are NOT exactly friendly to the idea. Here's comedian and social commentator Jimmy Dore on the subject:

This is why they keep us divided and conquered. Look at some of the petty crap we bicker about. 40% of us are independent and could win 3rd party if we united against the duopoly.

One...the independent vote will NEVER unify under one individual, mostly because the independent vote normally splits among a liberal/conservative continuum.

Two...any independent candidate will sorely hurt either the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate. Each independent candidate will draw almost exclusively from the Democratic Party vote or the Republican Party vote...and almost never equally from both.

The notion of independents getting together to solve the problems currently plaguing our nation is a pipe dream.

Right now people should forget about the candidate as an individual...and vote for the candidate(s) of the party they think best represents the direction in which they want our country to head. YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU WANT, BECAUSE DOING THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE...but at least you will get a direction in which to head.

I am a registered Independent...and as I see it, as things stand today, I will vote for the Democratic Party candidates almost exclusively, because although I see the many faults of that party, it has become obvious to me (and should to you) that the direction the Republican Party has taken is much too similar to the direction of the Nazis of 1930's Germany.

The lesser of two evils is still evil. We already live in a police state that is paid for with monopoly money. How much longer will that last before a revolt?

I do not see voting for the person I vote for as "the lesser of two evils"...but rather as simply, "the better choice."

Your idea of the better choice is a demented old man who spent his entire career kowtowing to banksters? Name a Trump policy that Biden reversed. No potus can change policy, they do what they are told and that's why we're in a 14-year recession about to fall off a cliff.

Many good points. Let's not forget that the parties of today are not the parties of yesteryear. The Party of Lincoln does not have the same principles and agenda as the Republican Party of today. Same for the Democrats. The parties evolve and both have evolved into the emotional hot divisive mess we see today.

The way to change it is to change the way we vote. If allowed to rank votes, that negates the problem of third party voters.

Example, I voted for Perot in 1992. That divided the Republican vote and Clinton won as a result. If I'd been allowed to rank my votes; Perot first, Bush second, then Bush would have won.

Same for Democrats who voted for Nader in 2000. If they'd ranked their vote Nader first, Gore second, then Gore would have clearly won.

If you want to consider Joe Biden to be "the lesser of two evils"...do so.

Deal with life as you will.

Ranked voting...and voting where third parties can nominate major party candidates as their candidate...can be of tremendous help.

I think that would be easier to pass than eliminating the EC or anything that requires a Constitutional Amendment.

1930s Germany, huh? It's not Republicans, it's Democrats trying to disarm the citizenry like 1930s Germany.

It is like 1930's Germany...and it is the American conservative Republicans who have made that once proud party into a shit heap, Matt.

It has become the Nazi party of America...the Taliban of America...everything that is wrong with America.

Wish you could see that.
