They're doing it right now.

You know, I really don't even think there's any sort of legitimacy to walling off people based on something arbitrary like geography. What's the ultimate logic from that? It's simply a historical anachronism, that we organize each other by geography, and I think it will fall one day.

and for America, there shouldn't be. We're a nation of immigrants (most of us) and should STILL firmly grasp the concept of the desire for a better life.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

the only reasons immigration is a battlefield is cheap labor for the market and votes for the democrats.

They can't vote. The immigration battle amongst Democrats is ultimately amongst those who feel sorry for immigrants and think of it as a form of arbitrary discrimination, and from those labour-Democrats who feel it's flooding the market with cheap labour which hurts teh common man. The decision is pretty easy for me, because I don't believe that it ultimately has any negative effects on the lower class. But darla has talked about being torn on the issue before; that's because she's secretly a prole.

until they are an actual registered citizen of this country, they shouldn't be allowed to vote. visa workers don't vote in this country, why should illegals be allowed to?

Watermark, it's not a matter of geography, it;s a matter of nationhood and all that implies, namely, a government which coordinates citizen activities, and creates laws that the citizens need or desire for their benefit. A bond exist betweens the state and citizen. Providing advantages and rights for citizens is why citizens support the government. Protections from invasion is something people like.


To the degree that a government shirks it;s duty to the people, it is illegitimate. when it becomes an instrument to facilitate the destruction of a people through outside influence of their enemies, it is illegitimate.

Illegal immigrants absolutely have 100% standing in this country. Anyone who doesn't believe that needs to be put to death for despicable crimes against humanity. This is indisputable. This is black and white. This is good vs. evil. This is humanity vs. conservatism.
