The original was a fun little action flick. It wasn't art, but it wasn't meant to be. Neither version will ever be 'Citizen Kane', but the first one beats the Twilight movies by a long shot.

Yea....right. Now if you want to make a great survivalist movie about guerilla warfare I'd suggest making Alan Eckerts "The Frontiersman" into a movie. That would kick some ass!! Native Americans in the NE and Great Lakes region of the 18th century were some of the finest guerilla warriors in the world at that time. Incredible fighting men and the frontiersmen like Boone, Kenton, Girty,Findlay,Greshap and Wetzel who played the Indian game the Indian way were some bona-fide serious bad assed mother fuckers and had to be to survive like they did on the frontier. It would be a great movie though the brutality would be completely shocking to people not familiar with US frontier history.
Some scenes that would be awesome would be Black Fish's attack on Boonesborough. Simon Kenton running the guantlet. The execution of Colonal Crawford (shiver). The rise of Techumseh and his brother the Prophet. The St. Claire massacre (Battle on the Wabash, First battle ever fought by the US Army and one of the most important in US History), Colonel George Rogers Clark brilliant expedition against Vincinnes.
